As a “consumable” item, the brake pad wear sensor must be replaced when it becomes ineffective. There is more to it than simply resetting it on a computer. Only when you insert a new sensor does the computer need to be reset.

The rear sensor would not have been replaced because it was brand new, in my estimation, as the front sensor would have been replaced when the front brakes were done 6 thousand miles ago.
