In a BMW 1 Series, where is the cup holder located?
In the central console, between the gear lever and armrest, there are cup holders (often two if there is no iDrive controller) (if you have one).
The bad news is that there are no easy options like interchangeable inserts; this is one whole mold. If your interior is black, you may be able to locate a used one.
I have a beige interior, so I’m purchasing a new (special order from Germany) central console to convert to the idrive version.
How is a BMW cup holder cleaned?
Nobody enjoys driving in a dirty car. If you’re like most people, you commute to work each day by driving for many hours. To transport you from point A to point B, you want a neat, fresh-smelling automobile. So what should you do if you encounter a dirty, sticky cup holder?
It’s possible that you turned sharply, causing coffee to flow out the top of the lid. Or perhaps one of your children left a paper cup of juice that was only halfway full in the cup holder for a full week. Whatever the cause of the sticky mess, use these suggestions to clean your cup holders once more.
Many automakers include detachable plastic or rubber liners in car cup holders because they foresee the need to clean them. These cup holders are the simplest to clean because you can just put them on the top rack of the dishwasher.
Take the cup holders out of the dishwasher when the cycle is finished and inspect them for cleanliness. There might be some slime left over, which you can easily remove with a rag. The dishwasher may need to be run again for stubborn messes.
Another option is to submerge removable cup holders from cars in a pail of warm, soapy water. Before attempting to scrub them, let them sit for at least 10 minutes. Allow the cup holders to soak longer and scrub them once more if dirt is still present. Clean up the cup holders by rinsing, drying, and putting them back in your automobile.
You must clean your cup holders in place if they cannot be removed from the vehicle.
Follow these steps to clean lightly soiled cup holders:
- In the bottom of a tumbler or other large cup, place an old sock.
- Apply glass cleaner or all-purpose cleaner to the sock.
- To remove light blemishes and stains, twist the tumbler around the cup holder.
- One of the most essential inside automobile cleaning items is a shop vac, so use it to finish by vacuuming the cup holder.
Try these steps for exceptionally filthy cup holders:
- Pour a small pool of warm, soapy water onto a dampened towel and squeeze it into the cup holder. Give the water some time to sit.
- To absorb the water and remove the buildup, wedge a dry towel inside the cup holder.
- If the cup holder is still sticky, soak it again.
- This time, to more successfully remove stuck-on crud from the creases, wrap a dinner knife in a towel and brush it over the edge.
- Apply a few drops of lemon juice with a clean cloth to any remaining black stains on cup holders that are light-colored.
- Enjoy your immaculate cup holders after rinsing and drying them.
Your goal is for your car cup holders to remain spotless for as long as possible after you’ve worked hard to clean them. To avoid messes in the future, try these suggestions:
- To collect spills and crumbs, place silicone cupcake liners in your cup holders.
- Use travel mugs only, never open cups, and always secure the plastic tab while not in use.
- Put a folded straw in the opening of mugs without a plastic tab to stop spills while you’re driving.
How can a Dixie cup holder be taken off from the wall?
If there are no screws or if the cup holder won’t come off the wall after the screws have been removed, look for the adhesive backing. Wearing rubber gloves and dipping a rag in adhesive remover will help. Drop the remover onto the adhesive pad by dribbling it on the wall. Start removing the pad with a putty knife while adding more adhesive remover as you go. Up until the cup holder is released from the tile, keep scraping and applying adhesive remover on the sticky pad. When finished, wipe the tile with a fresh rag.

By changing this entire cup holder assembly, the E90/E92/E93 cup holder may be fixed relatively easily and quickly.
It sports a silver accent on the front face that was later introduced and wasn’t present on previous “non facelifted” E9X vehicles. If you install this replacement sliding cup holder assembly in an earlier model automobile (2006, 2007, or 2008), it also gives the appearance of the newer (later) variants. No of the year, you will need this part because it is no longer manufactured with a silver accent.
