How is a bent wiper arm fixed?
You’ll frequently notice streak markings in the path of a chattering blade. The sound of your wipers chattering away on your windshield is not only unpleasant, it also indicates that the water is not being wiped away effectively. This issue could have a number of causes. It frequently happens as a result of an accumulation of wax, oil, or grease that keeps the blade from thoroughly wiping the water away. Scrub your windshield well and thoroughly. Clean the blades thoroughly as well, just to be safe.
If that doesn’t stop the chattering, a bent wiper arm might be the cause. Bring the wiper up to the windshield’s midstroke and look at the blade assembly to establish this diagnosis. The blade arms should be parallel to the windshield and the blades should be fully in contact with it. If the arm is bent, carefully twist it with some pliers so that it is once more parallel to the glass.

Can windshield wiper arms be changed?
Slide the locking clip out by lifting the wiper arm a few inches off the glass. Pull the arm away from the splined shaft after lowering it.
Every wiper arm has a hinge at the base that enables it to flex as it follows the window’s curve. Even with a fresh blade, if the wiper skips over some areas, it’s likely that the hinge is corroded and binding. Due to their little use, rear window wipers are the most frequently affected.
Although the hinge can be oiled, the corrosion and binding almost always come back. Replace the wiper arm in order to solve the issue permanently (available at an auto parts store).
A splined shaft accepts all wiper arms (Photo 1). Some have nuts holding them in place. Simply lift the protective cap, release the nut, and pull off the arm to replace that type (Photo 2).
The locking clip secures the other type in place. Install the replacement arm after unlocking it as demonstrated in the bottom picture (Photo 3).
How can I tell if my wiper arm needs replacement?
When the wiper blade does not really touch the windshield, there is yet another clear sign that there is a problem with the wiper arm. This is frequently brought on by an upward-bent wiper arm that does not apply enough pressure to maintain the blade edge on the windshield. Tip: Cleaning your windshield every time you fill up with gas will prolong the life of your wipers and keep them functioning properly. To eliminate grit, you should also wipe the entire rubber insert with a wet cloth.
How do I stop the chattering of my windshield wipers?

Why is the noise coming from my windshield wiper motor?

Later: Forgot, make sure the installation position on the splines is correct before removing the wiper arms to inspect the bushings. With the trim still in place, you ought to be able to “feel” the slop in the mechanism if that is the case.
What causes wipers to malfunction?
