Takata airbags in more than 1.5 million older Honda, Acura, and Isuzu vehicles pose a risk of serious or fatal injuries to passengers.
Some Acura CL, Acura MDX, Acura RL, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Honda Odyssey, Honda EV Plus, and Isuzu Oasis vehicles are included in the recall; the majority of these vehicles were made in the late 1990s.
Compared to Takata airbags in earlier Takata recalls, these airbags have a different design. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) believes that the inflators in these airbags may not be properly sealed. They might therefore let in too much moisture as a result. Due to this, the airbags might not inflate with enough force to protect passengers in the event of a collision, or they might burst and shoot shards of metal towards the passengers in front of them. Both illnesses carry the risk of fatality or severe injury.
In addition to Honda, Acura, and Isuzu vehicles, these problematic airbag inflators were also utilized in those from Audi, BMW, Mitsubishi, and Toyota between May 1, 1995, and August 31, 1999.

What models of Honda vehicles are subject to the airbag recall?
Older Honda and Acura cars are affected by the most recent batch of Takata issues. The Acura 2.2CL from 1997 to 1998 and the 1999 2.3CL, 1997-1999 The luxury brand of the manufacturer produced the 3.0CL, 2001 3.2CL, 1998-2000 3.5RL, 1999-2000 3.2TL, and Acura MDX. The 1998-2000 Honda Accord Coupe, Accord Sedan, Civic Sedan, Odyssey, 1996-2000 Civic Coupe, and 1997-2000 CR-V are among the affected models.
The defective inflators don’t yet have replacement components available, but Honda hopes to let affected customers know starting on March 9. Once parts are accessible, owners will subsequently get a second letter. Which Honda airbags are subject to a recall?

The 2003 3.2CL, 2013 ILX, 2003–2006 MDX, 2015 RDX, 2005–2012 RL, 2002–2003 3.2TL, 2009–2014 TL, 2009–2014 TSX, and 2010–2013 ZDX are examples of Acura vehicles.
After paying out more than $1 billion in fines for the largest auto safety recall in American history, scandal-plagued airbag manufacturer Takata Corp. filed for bankruptcy in Delaware and Japan late on Sunday, June 25.

Which vehicle models have airbag recalls?

Does Honda offer free airbag replacements?

Honda still employs Takata airbags, right?
- The United States Department of Justice filed criminal wire fraud charges against Takata Corporation on January 13, 2017, and the company pleaded guilty to the charges. As a result, Takata Corporation agreed to pay a total fine of $1 billion for its fraudulent actions in connection with the sales of faulty airbag inflators to various automakers, including Honda.
- Honda implemented the following actions in response to worries regarding the effectiveness and caliber of Takata’s airbag inflators:
- Takata hired a third party to undertake a thorough audit of all Takata dual stage frontal airbag inflator test data and related material that was provided to Honda at the request of the automaker. This audit’s second phase is now in progress after the first phase was finished in September 2016.
- Takata no longer provides the replacement inflators needed to service Honda and Acura automobiles. Alternative suppliers now produce all replacement inflators.
- Honda learned in the spring of 2015 that Takata had fabricated and altered test results for specific airbag inflators. Honda expects its suppliers to conduct themselves honestly at all times, therefore this behavior on the part of one of our suppliers continues to bother us much.
- No upcoming Honda or Acura model will be released anywhere in the world with a front driver or passenger Takata airbag inflator. Takata airbag inflators were not used in any new Honda or Acura automobiles built for sale in the United States as of late 2016.
