To prevent scratching the carbon fiber section, I would blue painters tape it up. I would then sit down for an hour and remove the glue with my 3M adhesive remover and several towels.
I used WD-40 to remove the residue from my lip spoiler and, let me tell you, it was a PITA. I ended up with two enormous blisters.
