How To Remove BMW E46 Wing Mirror?

I’m not very proud of this, but the other day as I was backing out of my garage, I collided with a wall and my BMW’s wing mirror nearly broke off. Although the old wing mirror is hanging by a thread and I am unsure of how to remove it safely, I can obtain the replacement parts and know how to install a new mirror. How may a BMW E46 wing mirror be removed in the safest manner?

In less than two minutes, find out if your auto insurance is being overcharged.

I’m sorry to hear about your collision, but I’m relieved that only the mirror was harmed! Here’s how to remove your BMW E46 wing mirror:

  • Take apart the automobile door. At the base of the rearview mirror, remove the triangular plastic pin. Slide the piece up and out once the pin is removed.
  • Take the door panel off. You all must first unscrew the five star-head screws holding the panel in place. The three screws in the armrest can be removed. Look for a little, circular cap behind the door handle so you can reach one of the others. Remove it, then remove the screw underneath using a little flathead screwdriver. Look underneath the airbag-labeled plastic piece for the last screw. Pry out one side of the component with the flathead screwdriver and then the other side using the same technique. Remove the screw after the ita is out.
  • Cut the plastic clips off. On the top and bottom, there should be six clips each. Although they may loudly break off, they should come off unharmed.
  • Take the panel off. The door handle cable should be freed by removing the two wire harnesses, pulling up and away from the door while grasping it about six inches from the top on either side.
  • Take the mirror off. Remove the two nuts on the automobile side of the mirror base after disconnecting the harnesses attaching your mirrors to the memory module. You should be good to go after lifting and completely removing your old mirror!

Since your automobile was damaged in a collision, collision insurance will probably pay the expense of a mechanic, even though this is a somewhat challenging process.
