Contrary to appearances, installing the steering wheel wraps is actually pretty simple. But if you read this article carefully, you’ll realize that it is actually fairly straightforward technically.
If you haven’t already, please watch the RedlineGoods instructional films, which will show you how to lace the new wrap on the steering wheel. Locate them here.
Therefore, let’s begin:) Please read the instructions completely before removing the wheel.
Caution:
Remove the screw from the trim on the underside of the steering column. Pull the bottom half of the steering column slowly, separating it from the higher part.
Disconnect by removing the (orange) plug-in connection from its holder on the steering column. Due to the chance that static electricity will cause the airbag to rupture, use caution when touching the plug contacts.
The two T30 Torx bolts must be removed. The bolts are located to the left and right of the steering wheel’s rear. The steering wheel’s bolts will be kept.
The air bag and steering wheel will separate after the two bolts are taken out. Be careful not to violently pull the bag and the wheel apart as this could break the airbag plug. Pull the orange plug straight out of the airbag to unplug. Don’t touch the airbag’s contacts once more.
To avoid unintentional deployment, wrap a tiny piece of electrical tape across the airbag’s contacts once it has been removed.
Attention: The impact pad of the airbag unit must face upright and be placed to one side in the luggage compartment.
Use a paint pen or a permanent marker to mark the steering wheel’s position in relation to the steering shaft. Take the steering wheel off.
Note:
By loosening the bolt, the spring clip that keeps the contact ring in the middle is activated. (Spring clip is white in color and is situated behind the airbag on the inside of the steering wheel at the 3 o’clock position.
Installation note: The opening (the innermost ring of the slip ring at about the 11 o’clock position as viewed from the back of the steering wheel) must be engaged by the lock pin (the pin at approximately the 2 o’clock position on the steering column).
If necessary, adjust the contact ring: Using the large tab at 3 o’clock (as seen from the back of the steering wheel), press down the spring. Contact should be rotated as far as the stop in either the clockwise or counterclockwise directions. Once the arrows for the middle position are aligned, back up about 3 turns. Open the spring.
You recently installed a real leather item. As you are aware, leather products require maintenance to keep them in good shape. To prevent your leather from drying out in the sun and cracking, we advise using some leather conditioner/UV protector on occasion (every 4-6 weeks, for example).

INSTALLATION
1. Start by removing the battery. Under the black cover in the trunk’s passenger side is where you’ll find the battery. Loosen the nuts on the negative and positive terminals using the 10mm nut driver (to be safe). Move the cables away from the battery terminal and disconnect them to prevent contact.
2. Take a peek under the steering wheel’s spokes. On either side, there is a small slit in an indentation. You should insert your flat-head screwdriver here.
The air bag retaining springs can be compressed with a tiny flathead screwdriver. When you come into contact with the spring, gently feel around with the screwdriver tip. The spring retracts when you press in. The screwdriver should be inserted slightly higher than the 3:00 and 9:00 spokes to get the best results when determining the ideal angle to compress the spring (see the pictures). To prevent damaging the airbag holes, please take your time. Examine images. During this procedure, it is simple to become frustrated. Make an effort to document the procedure well.
3. Make careful to make strong contact with the spring while pulling forcefully on one side of the airbag’s edges. Repeat on the opposite side. You may need to flip sides often since one side will occasionally clamp back down.
4. By pulling up on the yellow and green connectors, detach the airbag.
5. Disconnect the two wires that are attached to the clock spring within the wheel. When removing one, a locking tab needs to be depressed and the smaller wire carefully taken out.
6. To remove the middle bolt, use the 16mm ratchet and extension. If the wheel has never been taken off previously, it could be quite difficult. It might be best to get a friend’s assistance to hold the wheel firmly while you use leverage to remove the bolt (so as to not harm steering column).
7. When you install the replacement wheel, remember to line up the two markers at the 6:00 position (steering column and wheel).
8. When removing existing trim, make a note of the locations of the screws. Replace the old wheel’s wires, spring plate, and trim.
9. Reattach the wires to the airbag and clock spring. Make sure the cables are connected properly by taking note. Additionally, check that wires are not in the path of the two sizable springs that clamp the airbag. Push the airbag back into position.
10. Reattach the battery.
