The only reason the new Fords have locking hubs is because the 4×4 only engages after 3/4 of a revolution. If you are already stuck and your front tires won’t turn, you can manually lock the hub to make the 4×4 activate sooner.
If not, there is no need for the manual locking hub.
For 4×4, all you have to do is turn a knob in the cab.
