We recently purchased two 2013 Elantra GTs and adore them! However, there is one thing I wish we could change, and that is the noise the doors make while they are being locked and unlocked. Right now, the car sounds a high-pitched electronic beep and the horn honks when you press the button on either the door or the key fob (once for lock and two for unlock). While losing the honk, we’d prefer to preserve the beep. Any thoughts?
I am aware that my wife’s car’s key fob was used to operate this because the instructions were on the back. The horn can be turned off by holding down the lock and unlock buttons for two to three seconds. Try holding the panic button in addition to the luck/unlock button on your fob if it has just one. To do this, you must be close to the vehicle.
Edit: If you lock the car a second time on my Santa Fe, it chirps like a bird. In the same way is my Honda Civic. the first time you lock your car, it honks?
After speaking with my salesman, he instructed me to bring it in today. It was corrected by the alarm installer in about five minutes.
Yes, it would chirp and honk the horn with any push of the door handle button or the fob, to answer your question. Really obnoxious. But now, it only makes one chirp for lock and two for unlock.

I appreciate the advice. Strangely, when we first took mine home, it didn’t honk. There was merely a small beep (which would be so much better for the neighborhood late at night). However, I had to bring it in a week later to get the alarm put and the windows tinted, and it returned with the honk. 😛

Can somebody tell me how to stop the horn from honking when I push the key fob’s lock button twice? On my 2019 Kona SE, I had a remote starter installed. You must slowly press the lock button on the key fob three times for it to operate. On the second and third presses, the horn sounds as a result of doing this.
