The SEDAN 323/325 without the premium package is the only vehicle without a trunk release button. It is present in all coupes, 328/330s, and wagons.
Having said that, the removal release button won’t work to open the trunk when the trunk lock is in the horizontal position. Additionally, when the engine is running, the key fob does not function. When the trunk is unlocked (key hole verticle), you can unlock the door by pressing the central lock button, and then you can open the trunk by pressing the trunk release button that is located beneath the handle.

The E46 coupes with fold-down rear seats and no ski permit can use this technique. I have not confirmed whether it is possible in sedans.
YOU WILL NEED TO FIRST GET INTO THE CABIN IF YOU’VE LEFT YOUR KEYS IN THE TRUNK.
What you’ll require is:
1. Dial AAA or a locksmith, ask them to wedge the window, and then have them pull the door’s release mechanism (door handle) to unlock the door. THE CENTRAL LOCKING BUTTON CANNOT BE PUSHED TO WORK.

6. Take away the foam pad that was covering the speaker. Three 8mm bolts holding the speaker in place must be removed. Pinch the two side tabs of the electrical connector and pull it out to detach it from the speaker.
7. Raise the speaker basket made of black plastic that is located underneath it.
8. The space under the speaker is now just big enough for your arm. You will have just enough room to slide your arm in there and push the release, which allows the seat to fold forward, which is located just below that hole. Pull the yellow emergency trunk release that is located on the trunk lid, then move the seat so that it folds down.
