Simply pressing the unlock button on the key fob’s top will unlock your BMW. Within the settings menu of the automobile, you may select whether to unlock all the doors or simply the driver’s door. Using your BMW comfort access technology is method 1 of 1.
Lock and unlock doors as the first step. You must press the corresponding button for each function if your BMW is an older model without door sensors.
Simply touch the top arrow-shaped button to unlock the door. The driver’s side door will unlock after you hear the car beep two or three times; press the button once more to unlock the passenger doors. To lock the doors, press the round BMW logo in the center of the button.
Step 2 is to walk up to the vehicle and grip the handle. To unlock the door, simply go up to the vehicle while holding the smart key in one of your pockets and touch the interior of the handle.
When you exit the car while holding the key in your pocket, tap the ridged sensor on the handle’s upper right side to lock the door once more. It’s not necessary to push the buttons on the key if your later BMW car has more sophisticated comfort access technology, but it is an option.

Step 3: On older models, open the trunk. The trunk will unlock by just pressing the bottom button on your smart key, which should display a picture of a car.
Step 4: Use comfort access to unlock. With the smart key in your pocket, approach the trunk, wave your foot under the rear bumper, and the trunk will unlock.
Step 5: Start your car using an earlier model. Press and release the aStart/Stopa ignition button while the key is in the ignition, the buttons are facing up, and your foot is on the brake.
Your car should start once you click this button, which is to the right of the steering wheel.

It’s cool to start the engine without the key. However, it is much more convenient to start it without even getting inside your car. However, your BMW must have the S1CRA “remote engine start” option in order for you to use your key fob to initiate the start-up process. For instance, to start your engine in the 2019 BMW X5, you must immediately press the lock button on the key fob three times while holding it down. You would also need to make sure that the’remote engine start’ capability is turned on in your iDrive settings beforehand. To achieve that, you must:
1) Access the iDrive menu.
2) Select “Car.”
3) Click “Settings.”

Alternately, while the doors or trunk are open, you can push the black BMW emblem on the keychain, and as soon as you close them, it will lock automatically and sound the alarm.

The current smart key has three buttons, and your car should come with two of these keys.

What does a BMW key’s diamond button do?
Does anyone have any knowledge of what the key fob’s diamond button is meant to do?
The included manual is incredibly succinct. It refers to a “Headlight courtesy delay feature,” although it’s not entirely clear what this feature performs. “If the standby state is switched on and the high-beam headlights are enabled, the low-beam headlights remain on for an of time,” the text states. Even if “… for a period of time” is meant to be “… for a length of time,” that still doesn’t adequately describe what this feature is.
According to the description, it can only be used when the automobile has just been turned off and the high beams are on. However, when the car is locked, the button appears to have some effect. The inside lights occasionally come on. The headlights occasionally come on. It is quite unpredictable and challenging to duplicate.
What experiences do others have? Has anyone figured out what this button’s actual purpose is?
It is unfortunate that it cannot be set to perform things like open the windows or sunroof, switch on the heating, or other things!
Mine has two options (330e in Belgium): turn on the lights in the house or turn on the air conditioning. In the options for the car, I can select the default function.
It briefly illuminates the headlights in my automobile. Excellent for illuminating the path to your front entrance or finding your car at night in a big parking lot.
Check the “Home lights” setting under “Exterior Light Settings” on your iDrive to make sure it is not set to 0 seconds.
My headlights now turn on for 10 seconds when I hold the diamond button on the key because I set mine to that duration (G20 330i).
