The seventh edition of the Porsche European Open saw Finn Kalle Samooja win his first-ever DP World Tour match after a record-breaking round. The streak of English victories on the Porsche Nord Course since 2017 has come to an end. When the 34-year-old Samooja shot the tournament’s best round ever at Green Eagle Golf Courses, his competitors had no chance. Wil Besseling, a Dutchman, placed in second place two strokes back. Samooja’s score of 64 (-8), which was three strokes better than the second-best round in the competition, marked the first time this week that she went under par. In the lengthy history of the DP World Tour, a professional has won an event with just one round under par three times.
Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board in charge of Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, comments, “For us, the seventh edition of the Porsche European Open was a really emotional competition.” “This year, we were especially happy to witness the enormous crowds at the location in addition to the superb top-notch golf and an exciting event experience. They produced a wonderful mood.”
Victor Perez’s hole-in-one on Saturday during the third round served as one of the tournament’s high points. The Frenchman missed out on the prize for a hole-in-one because he aced the second. On the 17th, a Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo was waiting for a successful winner, but this year it was unsuccessful once more. Both professionals and spectators who had qualified for a shootout on the 17th hole via the public hole-in-one failed to hole out with a single shot from 155 meters.

The European Open winner is?
In a thrilling final, Albin Ouschan defeated Shane Van Boening 13-11 to win the first European Open Pool Championship in Fulda, Germany.
A dry break from world No. 1 Van Boening at 10-10 allowed Ouschan to finish the table and go two steps closer to triumph and history.
Van Boening intervened to bring the score back up before the two engaged in a fierce safety struggle that ended with Ouschan leaving the two hanging over the pocket.
Before a 3-6 combo and a safety on the three, Van Boening made it. Ouschan eventually left it open, but Van Boening’s safety caused him to scratch and hand the ball to Ouschan.
After a well-timed safety, Van Boening found himself in serious difficulties behind the seven. The four full contact strikes from “The South Dakota Kid” cleared the field and put Ouschan on the hill at a score of 12-11.
Van Boening’s brilliant bank to make the three seemed to be the turning point in the game, but a costly miscue on the five allowed Ouschan to secure a suspenseful 13-11 triumph.
“It was impossible to predict the winner. Overall, I thought it was a fun match to watch. I’m so relieved that it’s finished, and I got some sweet vengeance on Shane,” the Austrian remarked.
Naturally, the thought crosses your mind that you will once again be competing against Shane in a final.
“You played the last one, and he destroyed you. It enters your mind. I prayed to the Lord for a break when the score was 10-10 in the match, and I eventually received one. I then made a mistake with the three-ball. When he felt some pressure on the five ball, I was relieved since it meant the game was over and I could leave with another victory.

In the MPO division, Eagle McMahon and Paul McBeth competed head-to-head until the last hole before quickly winning the competition. The outcome was McMahon’s second major victory of his career and the highest-rated major triumph in PDGA annals.

Who won today’s Hero Open?
Scotland’s ST. ANDREWS — With a convincing victory at the Hero Open, American Sean Crocker defeated Eddie Pepperell, who put up a valiant fight, to win his maiden DP World Tour championship.
At Fairmont St. Andrews, Crocker played a final-round 68 to finish 22 under par and one shot clear of Pepperell, who had increased the pressure with a final-round 65.
After key par saves on the final two holes sealed the victory, Crocker told Sky Sports, “It’s very fantastic but yeah, winning a golf event is not easy and Eddie did not make that easy for me either.”
Crocker, who made nine cuts in a row earlier this season, added when asked how it felt to win on the 18th hole by standing over a four-footer: “very anxious.
“I’ve felt that pressure before, but this is my first pro tournament (win), so that putt looked like it was 20 feet and that hole looked like it was half an inch wide. But right off the face, I knew it was a well-struck putt, and as I looked up and saw it drop, I was just telling myself, “Don’t start crying.”
Crocker, who was raised in California but was born in Zimbabwe, lost the two-shot lead he had held earlier in the final round when Pepperell and Oliver Hundeboll of Denmark both had fast starts. However, a birdie on the sixth hole and three more in as many holes from the 10th hole restored Crocker’s lead, and Pepperell’s birdie on the 18th hole set up a tense finish.
After the second of his two victories in 2018, Pepperell rose to a world ranking of 32nd. However, he has struggled in recent years, so he was happy with his first top-five finish in three years.
Pepperell proclaimed his pride following a round that had eight birdies and one bogey.
“It was mostly flawless up until the ninth hole, after which it felt far from flawless. I had to sort this out because there were some difficult tee shots going in, but I just trusted my routines, and I felt like I played fantastically from the fairway in.
“I haven’t held this post for a very long period, but overall, I believe I performed satisfactorily.”
At 19 under, David Law of Scotland and Adrian Otaegui of Spain tied for third place, one stroke behind Hundeboll and Jens Dantorp of Sweden.
Who was the Dubai Classic champion?
The 2022 Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic of the DP World Tour was set up for an exciting conclusion when Viktor Hovland and Richard Bland went low late on Sunday.
With a birdie-eagle-birdie finish and a clubhouse score of 12 under, the 24-year-old Norwegian claimed the lead at Emirates Golf Club. In order to tie Hovland and force a playoff, Bland, who took home his first tour victory at the Betfred British Masters last year, closed his round with back-to-back birdies. Rory McIlroy, a two-time champion, was eliminated from the playoff after hitting the water on the last hole.
After retaking the 18th hole, Hovland made a birdie to win the 2021 BMW International Open as well as his second DP World Tour championship. The former Oklahoma State standout also has three victories on the PGA Tour, including the 2021 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, the 2020 Puerto Rico Open, and the 2020 Mayakoba Golf Classic. Hovland also triumphed in the Bahamas’ Hero World Challenge in December.
“This is quite bizarre. Hovland, who started the day six shots behind the lead, said, “I didn’t really think this was feasible going in today. “I was aware that I needed to shoot a really low score, but several things needed to go my way, and I’m grateful that they did.
After making a three-putt on hole 15, he said, “I was furious and thought that was it. I knew I just had to try to finish off nicely and establish a nice position for the week.” “I rolled a super long one on 16, and then on 17, and hey, we got a shot,” the player said.
Five players tied for fourth place at 8 under: Justin Harding, Tyrrell Hatton, Sam Horsfield, Adrian Meronk, and Erik van Rooyen. McIlroy finished third at 11 under.
