It appears that Bimmercode is required, as the prior commenter stated. Without initially writing code to enable the digital speed display on the instrument cluster, I was unable to change the settings from miles to kilometers. I then selected km in the iDrive menu, which enabled km/hour in the digital display and the heads-up display. My odometer is also in kilometers.
Dude, it’s on the iDrive menu. Look for untis under settings. You may easily alter it there. No coding or Bimmercode is required.

Hey folks, the cluster does display both the main miles per hour and the smaller kilometers per hour. The digital odometer readout has to be changed back to Miles, please. I believe it only involves switching the display setting somewhere in the computer as the odometer is actually a separate unit and is controlled by the computer.
PS: The odometer is unaffected by pressing the US/Metric toggle switch on the center dash computer.
