Thank you very much for the excellent advice, everyone! Sorry I couldn’t thank you all for your responses. Wow, with all those responses, I really did learn a lot about oil changes! Gratitude =)

Even though I’ve only driven about 3000 miles in the last 18 months since my last oil change, I just had my oil changed yesterday by a local shop as you all recommended. Haha! However, I believe it will be a wise decision to keep an eye out for a nearby dealer’s promotion.

My second concern is that even though I had the oil changed, the reminder service date has not altered. The employee at the shop advised against manually changing the date outside of the dealer as it would interfere with other due dates. Is it real?

Why does my car seem to need maintenance?

Automakers put a service required light on the dashboard of cars as a safety measure for drivers. The computer keeps track of how many miles you travel and will remind you to maintain the engine at predetermined times. Your car’s engine will remain healthy and functional for a very long time if you carefully maintain it.

Although it might be used for other fluids or parts, the service required light is primarily used to alert drivers when it’s time to change the oil and filter. In the past, this light was comparable to the check engine light and might indicate that the system has discovered a defect. Now, the check engine light will indicate if a malfunction has been found, while this light is mostly meant to encourage the driver to change their fluids.

First things first, you should determine whether the puddle is the result of British weather rather than an issue with your car.

In the summer, condensation in the air conditioning unit or your exhaust in the winter can cause water leaks in your automobile. In either case, neither situation is dangerous and won’t require a mechanic’s help.

If colored liquid is dripping from your car, you may be dealing with a more significant issue.

Brown liquid could indicate the leak of brake fluid, power steering fluid, or oil, which is the most dangerous of them. If you think you might be low on a necessary fluid, you shouldn’t even try to drive your car to the shop. Attempt to schedule a visit from a certified mechanic instead.
