Carmona stated, “We’re basically solely concentrating on the coupe version. The convertible is no longer an option.
The previous Q60 Convertible, which debuted in 2009 as the G37 Convertible, was built on the same basis as Nissan’s 370Z Roadster. It seems a new Q60 Convertible was simply too pricey to justify, though, in the absence of a new open-top Z to help spread development expenses.
Sadly, Carmona revealed in a separate interview with Motoring that Infiniti does not intend to release a high-performance Q60 to compete with such models from BMW M and Mercedes-AMG, though he did not completely rule out the possibility of such a model in the future.
Infiniti is all about performance, so that won’t ever be off the table, Carmona added. But regrettably, it won’t happen anytime soon.
When Infiniti unveiled the 560 horsepower Q50 Eau Rouge concept at the 2014 Detroit auto show, the company, under the direction of Johan de Nysschen, alluded to the prospect of a true BMW M and Mercedes-AMG adversary. However, after de Nysschen left BMW to lead Cadillac, production plans for the possible M3 and C63 competitor were shelved.

While the Infiniti Q60 Coupe will return as a brand-new model in 2017, there is no immediate word on the Q60 Convertible’s plans after 2015.

fantastic review The only remaining query is how much adding the convertible model will impact overall performance. Furthermore, why does the convertible G37 have 5 fewer horsepower than the other models? I imagine the hard top convertible top must add a significant amount of weight.

I appreciate your article. I’ve been worrying over which Infiniti G-series model to purchase. Unfortunately, my spending limit will probably force me to get the G35x or G35. Simply said, the G37 is too pricey. I sold a 2007 G35x with 145k miles that was in excellent shape and had dark blue 19-inch rims. 5200 dollars or better offer. Crazy. 10 minutes prior to my arrival, sold!
