The Rebel 500 has more than respectable specifications for a starting cruiser bike. It can easily travel at speeds of up to 100 mph for an extended period of time, which is fast enough for a lengthy interstate ride.

For 2020, Honda’s Rebel 500 receives a much-needed redesign that improves its appearance and addresses some of the problems with the previous design.

What We Liked

The Honda Rebel 500 is a small and simple motorcycle. Because of this, it excels as a city bike. It’s simple to turn in confined areas, and you can (if it’s legal) split lanes like a scooter.

The engine runs smoothly. The 45 horsepower parallel-twin engine is the same one that powers the whole CB500 series. But enough is enough. On the highway, you may comfortably ride it at 130 km/h, and the top speed is 160 km/h. sufficient for a beginner’s bike.

It looks better with the front cowl covering the headlight in particular. The fork covers are attractive, and the LED turning lights appear better than they did before. A improved Rebel 500 is now available.

The riding position is comfortable and organic. Everything is in the proper place and the ergonomics are excellent. However, the clutch cover is directly close to the right leg.

Although it can be a little challenging to read in bright sunshine, the new dash delivers basic information and a gear indicator.

Updates include a reworked fork, which makes the bike less shaky in turns at greater speeds, and a slick clutch, which is also very helpful when gear-shifting.

What We Disliked

It still has a motorcycle-from-recycled-parts kind of vibe. The exhaust doesn’t look nice, the fuel tank doesn’t seem to match the frame, and the horizontal radiator appears to have been lifted off the CB500.

Both inside and outside the city, the rear suspension is rather harsh while travelling over bumps.

For this kind of bike, Honda’s official accessory catalog is lacking in modified parts.

What is the power output of a Honda Rebel 500?

With the Rebel, Honda produced one of the best casual cruisers ever, particularly for less experienced riders, but you are not required to get one with a single-cylinder engine. Compared to the Rebel 300, which features a smaller parallel twin engine, the Rebel 500 boasts a full 471cc.

The Kawasaki Vulcan S and Suzuki Boulevard C50 are both rivals to the new Rebel 500 in terms of accessible cruisers with comparable engine displacement that are currently on the market. However, Honda’s entry in this market is not only stunning; it is also remarkably simple to ride. After all, Honda has always been adept at making a functional bike seem stylish.

Unless you consider a little higher price tag and a new color scheme, there won’t be any major alterations for 2022. (Pearl Organic Green). A year newer and shinier, except from that, it’s still the same Rebel you knew and loved in 2021.

This bike weighs only 408 lbs, and it doesn’t handle like a heavy bike either. At 6,300 rpm, the fuel-injected engine produces 45.9 horsepower and 29.9 lb-ft of torque. That gives you more than enough grunt to get around town and occasionally tear through the countryside.

There are a ton of Rebel 500 accessories available as well, such as a passenger seat and footpeg kit (also available for the other 2022 Rebels). This is an essential addition to Honda’s roster of motorcycles for 2022 if you’re looking for a contemporary cruiser that’s a ton of fun to ride.

How fast is the Honda Rebel 500?

The Rebel 500 motor is very strong and pleasingly smooth. The Rebel 500’s engine is tweaked for additional low-rpm torque and is based on the motor used in the CB500 performance family. Without sudden jerks and snatchy reactions, pulling away from stops is controlled and manageable.

What type of fuel can a Honda Rebel 500 run on?

As long as the gas is at least 87, it won’t really matter what kind of gas you put in it.

The fuel system computer is designed for 87 octane, and the bike is intended to run on that gasoline. If you use any other octane, the bike’s electronics will attempt to compensate for the difference and still have the bike run on 87 fuel.

It was used by the majority of bikes to prevent pre-ignition within hot engines. These bikes are not really fast, and they don’t seem to become hot enough to cause that issue.

Running 89 or 90 octane would not present a problem, but as you increase the octane number, the bike’s computer works harder to make up the difference.

Are Honda Rebels secure?

Most of these criticisms are from riders who are hesitant to upgrade to a bike designed for a more experienced rider to do long trips or something on which they can rip up the city like more of a pro since they believe the Rebel is a fantastic first bike.

It’s a fast, nimble, lightweight, and enjoyable bike for a novice to get acclimated to, and if you drop it—which every beginner does at some point—simple it’s to back up and pick up off the ground.

Is there a reserve tank on the Honda Rebel 500?

My Honda is a 2018 ABS 500 model. I drive at an average speed of 69 mph on the highway for around 80% of my trips, and an average of 30 mph on city streets for the remaining 20%. My motorcycle has 500 miles on it and is almost new.

I managed to travel 186.6 miles today using the entire tank. At 147.5 miles, the final bar on the fuel gauge began to flicker. That tank serves as a reserve. When it started to feel like it was ready to stop, the reserve tank still allowed me to go 39.1 miles. At that time, I stopped at a petrol station and added 3.014 gal to the tank. I did spill a very small amount of gas, and I am aware that the tank is only designed to hold 2.9 gal. Nevertheless, those are the figures. In an effort to get more miles per gallon out of my tank, I try to avoid driving aggressively. If anyone has used the reserve tank for more over 40 miles, please let me know!
