Both engines produced smooth, sonorous power and good low-end torque.
Like other BMWs, the 1-Series offered a wide range of options, including high-tech gadgetry and convenience features, as well as exterior appearance features like different wheel, paint, and interior materials. However, the 1-Series was omitted from some of the most advanced technology found in the 5-Series and 7-Series.
The headlamps, kidney grille, and somewhat long hood that distinguish the brand’s coupes were all present on the 1-Series’ exterior. In convertible form, a fabric top served its purpose in place of several options, including BMW’s own Z4. The interior had a clean, contemporary aesthetic with well-done construction and high-quality materials. The dash, dashboard, and doors now have varying levels of wood and metal trim from optional upgrades, and the 1-Series is also available in a variety of upholstery colors and leather grades for a more upscale look.
The 135i replaced the automatic transmission with an optional seven-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission, while the 128i was only offered with a six-speed manual or a six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The 1-Series was given a more aggressive appearance by the M Sport package, which was only temporarily offered. However, the 1-Series M Coupe, a limited-edition model produced just for 2011, added even more aggressive styling and 340 horsepower.
Navigation, Harman Kardon audio, satellite radio, heated front seats, BMW Assist with Bluetooth, keyless entry, automatic high lights, and rear parking assist were among the technological and convenience features offered in the BMW 1-Series.
For the 2012 model year, there were no substantial changes, but for 2013, BMW added special 135is Coupe and Convertible models to the lineup. These vehicles came with a higher-output 320 hp engine as well as several performance upgrades and extra equipment including xenon headlamps and sport seats.

BMW has announced that its 1 Series Coupe and Convertible will be discontinued for the 2014 model year, marking an unjustifiable end to a line that produced two excellent high-performance models over the course of its existence. As a result, BMW is temporarily leaving the increasingly competitive and popular compact luxury segment.
Has the BMW 1 Series been phased out?
Since 2004, BMW has been producing a line of C-segment subcompact executive automobiles under the name BMW 1 Series. It is presently in its third generation and is the replacement for the BMW 3 Series Compact. The first generation, which served as the entry-level model in the BMW product line, was made in hatchback, coupe, and convertible body types.

Additionally, the Swedish hatchback was Rs 3.55 lakh less expensive, even after it was imported into India as a fully assembled car.
Two: It was never the most attractive vehicle in its class. Mercedes-Benz profited from their stunning hatchback, the A-Class, in that area. Even when BMW launched the 1 Series’ mid-life facelift, it wasn’t adequately promoted to draw in its target market. The 1 Series eventually found itself in a bind as enthusiasts lost interest in it after their initial impressions and were more eager to make the extra effort to get the 3 Series.
The problem is that earlier this year, BMW introduced the 1 Series sedan in our neighboring nation of China. That makes a lot more sense for India as well, at least on paper. The 1 Series sedan may very well be BMW’s answer to Audi’s entry-level sedan, just as the Audi A3 sedan in India is based on the Audi A3 hatchback in Europe. Is the business thinking about that? We certainly hope so!
What models are in the BMW 1 Series?
The SE, Sport, M Sport, and M Sport Shadow Edition trim levels are offered for the BMW 1 Series. Another high-end M140i hot hatchback is available. After a redesign in 2015, the standard kit is in fact fairly affordable.
The Sport version is the next step up, and it comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting, sports seats, different inside trim, and high gloss black exterior trim accents.

The M Sport Shadow Edition, which was introduced toward the end of the model’s life, improves upon the standard M Sport by adding 18-inch alloy wheels with a darker finish, cruise control, darkened front and rear lighting units, a Harman Kardon sound system, rear parking sensors, and a M Sport braking system upgrade.
Do the USA sell the BMW 1 Series?
As before, the 1-series hatchback will not be available in the United States; instead, a crossover must be purchased if you want a small, front-wheel-drive BMW. But later this year, BMW will introduce a 2-series Gran Coupe based on the same architecture. It will be a swoopy four-door to compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLA.

The 2 Series offers a measurable advantage over the 1 Series in terms of safety technology. For instance, the 2 Series has front and rear sensors while the 1 Series just has rear parking sensors. Additionally, the 2 Series provides automatic braking together with a forward-collision alert system, which the 1 Series does not.
How much larger is the BMW 2 Series than the 1 Series?
The 2 Series Gran Coupe appears to be the more sensible option on paper.
Its 4.5-meter length makes it 20 centimeters longer than the 1 Series, and its 430-liter boot has 50 more liters of capacity than its hatchback stablemate. Due to its larger wheelbase, which provides greater room for rear space, the Gran Coupe is the more generous option. Despite the sloping roofline, tall adults will still be able to sit comfortably in the back.
But when it comes to the boot itself, the 1 Series’ hatchback design is the more sensible choice—especially if you have a dog, for instance. The broader entrance and squarer shape will make it slightly simpler to carry larger objects into the automobile.
