The Porsche European Delivery program does not, however, provide any discounts of any kind. Check out the European Delivery initiatives that are worthwhile.

There are two sites where you may pick up your new Porsche, each with a unique experience. Stuttgart’s New Car Delivery Center or Leipzig’s New Car Delivery Center with a factory and racetrack are both options.

Leipzig is the only site in Europe where returning a Porsche is free of charge, but there are some other cities. All insurance and transportation expenses will be paid for by Porsche.

When picking up your new Porsche, you will need to present a valid passport and driver’s license. Porsche advises obtaining an international driving permit before leaving.

Here is my opinion. While not precisely the same, some of it might still be relevant.

1.) I was initially concerned about PPF, but I don’t really pay attention to how I wash or maintain my car. I came to the conclusion that I simply wasn’t concerned enough for it to be a problem. I drove without a PPF for four weeks around Europe, washed my car, and did everything else that most people wouldn’t. I applied PPF as soon as I came home. In the end, I didn’t really care about the whole thing. Concerning paint repair, I was unconcerned. I don’t meticulously inspect every part of my car for flaws. All of that, in my opinion, takes away from the owning experience. It’s an automobile, and cars lose value. To me, driving it rather than cleaning it is the best indicator of value.

2.) It is inconvenient to keep the rpms low. At first, you should just enjoy yourself and wind it out. Fortunately, I completed roughly 3000 kilometers before reaching the Alps. I was therefore ready to leave when I arrived there. Driving used to be a little monotonous before that. Additionally, I believe that learning the PDK (which is what I purchased) takes some time. It was erratic at first, but after a few thousand miles, it appears to have grown wiser and figured out how to shift more effectively.

3.) I see that I can drive more enthusiastically on my neighborhood roads. I am familiar with the curves and the more likely locations for cops, bicyclists, and animals. My enjoyment of driving on new roads is diminished by all the unknowns. The Shenandoah Skyline Drive has been traveled by car. Although it is a beautiful route, I believe I would need to drive it more than once to enjoy it as much as I do on my familiar, nearby roads. When I am driving for fun, I don’t have much time to take in the scenery. Too much is occurring too quickly. The Tail of the Dragon is undoubtedly fantastic, but given your limitations (new car, new road), it might not be as joyful as it could be.

Porsche will execute the plan superbly if my experience in Europe is any indication of the delivery experience in the US.

This summer, most likely in July 2018, I’m thinking about performing a European delivery on a base Cayman 2019 MY Cayman.

I had two inquiries.

1) Am I correct in believing that allocations for delivery to Europe occur simultaneously with those to the US? I discovered in a previous post that the 2019 MY allocations should become accessible in March or April 2018. I therefore anticipate being able to order a 2019 MY Cayman in April 2018 for arrival in Germany in July 2018.

2) Several sales representatives have told me that European deliveries are a hassle for them and “more expensive” for the customer. One even informed me that the price for the privilege would exceed the MSRP. Additionally, the buyer may be asked to pay a deposit to cover the about 20% VAT that would be owed if the automobile wasn’t returned as scheduled (though I’m sure you get that money back eventually). What is a fair discount for a delivery to Europe? It seems that 7-8% is the typical rate for a delivery in the US. For the experience, I would be prepared to pay a little bit more (I’ve done this with both BMW and Audi and liked it). On this website, someone claimed to have received a 5% discount on a Porsche Euro delivery.

Compared to Audi or (particularly) BMW, Porsche seems to advertise the Euro delivery experience much less.

The Porsche European Delivery Program is available to any American or Canadian citizen as long as they order a vehicle from Porsche and pay for it.

For car lovers, seeing Europe in a brand-new, “factory fresh” Porsche is the ideal vacation.
