Does The Hyundai Palisade Have Wireless Charging?

My 2021 Palisade Calligraphy is only a little over two months old. My wireless Qi charging pad has never failed to function before, but today I got in the car and it won’t charge my phone. Who else has experienced this, and what did you do? Before I contact the dealer, I’m looking for a fix. Thanks!

Doors closed, engine running, like others have stated, AND I discovered that blue link must be active. It appears that it does this via satellite, thus it might not turn on if you are in your garage or somewhere else that blocks the signal. My own wouldn’t operate in my garage, but it does as I back out onto the driveway.

WIRELESS CHARGING IN A HYUNDAI: HOW TO USE

The wireless charging pad from Hyundai has an on/off power button to enable wireless charging when necessary. The system will turn on and become operational when a blue light turns on. The blue light will become red/amber when a device is positioned on the charger, showing that charging is taking place. In order for the phone to charge, make sure it is situated properly. Before starting a charge, always remove everything off the pad, especially anything metallic.

I connected my virtually empty Samsung Galaxy S10 phone to the provided Samsung cable for the Palisade testing, which shows the battery’s remaining charge in hours and minutes. (Make sure to read our article about how choosing the right cord is crucial if you want your smartphone to charge rapidly and communicate with your phone.)

You should take note that the only margins that count are those between the pad and the data port, and then between that port and all of the specific charging ports. Because the phone added charge quickly during each test (as seen in the Battery Level column), there are only minor discrepancies in the charging speeds between the ports. For what it’s worth, the charging ports on the Palisade are remarkably uniform; it’s not usually like this in other places.

The variations in charging times that we observe in the Palisade are rather common. With my new phone, which is capable of faster wireless charging than what we see above, the wireless charging station was the slowest. The data port would take the second-longest time, which is disappointing because you need to utilize that port to operate Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, both of which put a lot of strain on your phone. Although much has changed since the Elantra Touring, dedicated charging ports continue to be stronger than data ports. Despite the limited scope of my tests, these variations appear to be balancing out in the market: Two of the other five 2020 models I just tested had data ports that closely matched the dimensions of the charging ports, and one was a little bit faster.

Since there are many variables at play and my phone isn’t always fully charged while testing, we don’t place too much weight into charging speeds compared to other vehicles, but the Palisade’s charge ports look especially durable for standard USB-A outlets with a 5 volt and 2.4 amp maximum. When I connected my Samsung phone into a wall outlet at home, the charging rate was no faster than it had been using the Hyundai’s ports, which always indicated “rapid charging” on the display, despite the fact that Samsung phones and their associated chargers are capable of voltages higher than 5 volts.

The fastest charging option may not even be a port, depending on what you drive, especially if the vehicle is older. However, a 12-volt outlet and converter or a home outlet (which our Palisade also has), coupled with the provided charger, would be the ideal option for you to add minutes. As was already said, the Samsung charger produced the same results in the Palisade as the car’s charging ports.

You only need to place your phone on the QI charging pad if it has the capability to accept Qi Charging natively. Additionally, a tiny wireless receiver that plugs into the phone port area can be used to “retrofit” a phone that lacks native Qi Charging functionality.

It’s possible that your phone doesn’t come with the native capability to charge itself when placed in a Qi charging area if it doesn’t do so. I would see whether it is available by contacting the manufacturer of your phone (through the website).
