I could simply get a STOCK Porsche and it would still be faster with the amount of money that anyone would spend on upgrading the G to 400.

Back to my point: I wouldn’t be ready to spend $10–$20,000 to make a car have 400 horsepower, but if you’re wealthy and have expensive cars like Ferraris or Lamborghinis in your garage, feel free to give your G35 400 horsepower or more.

That’s untrue; with the correct modifications, a G can outhandle and outrun many Porsches. It already competes fiercely with a boxster and a base carrera in stock condition, after all. (Speed-wise, at least) If you remove roughly 300 pounds from our fat woman and add sway bars, coilovers, and other suspension upgrades, that’s pretty damn close and still costs less than $70,000 for a Porsche Carrera.

The intake and exhaust systems of a G35 can be used to unleash the majority of power improvements. You can increase the power and torque of your G35 for a few thousand dollars with an intake, plenum spacer, and some exhaust modifications.

Remember that the power gains we estimate for each alteration depend on the other modifications you have. Generally speaking, the more changes you apply, the greater power and benefit each one has. Plenum spacers are the ideal place to start because they are the most affordable and provide the greatest power improvements. The next best additions are headers and high-flow catalytic converters, but they start to cost more than a cat-back exhaust system does.

On a rev-up engine with full-bolt ons, 290 whp will be very much at its maximum without the addition of forced induction. Depending on which model G35 you have, you can expect 260–275whp from VQ35DE versions.

Even though a fully modified G35 won’t start running circles around turbocharged vehicles, adding 40 horsepower will truly loosen the car up and make it a lot more entertaining.

Better: G35 or G37?

There is little doubt that the engines in these two cars are what distinguish them most from one another. You’d be astonished to learn that there is a valid case there, despite your initial assumption.

The G35 initially produced only 260 horsepower with the VQ35DE engine over its numerous iterations from its 2002 to 2007 model years until later reaching its maximum 306 horsepower with the subsequent VQ35HR engine.

However, there is no need to worry because additional potential could be unleashed thanks to numerous engine improvements.

As soon as the G37 left the dealership, its incredible 3.7-liter VQ37VHR engine could produce 328 horsepower, and there was still plenty of room for tuning.

It’s interesting to note, though, that despite the apparent disparities in power on paper, you’d be shocked to find that each have very different power delivery strategies that offer a completely different driving experience.

This is owing to the G35’s more aggressive gearing, which is much more noticeable in the lower power range, compared to the G37.

Since it had previously made the G35 feel more “sporty,” more like the 350Z, many owners believe Infiniti altered this for the upgraded model rather than appealing to the “sensible” clientele that Infiniti was aiming with the G37.

Due to its feeling more like a “raw” driver’s car, the G35 can feel faster even with less power, whereas the G37 is more refined due to its “swell” power distribution.

The G37’s VHR has the advantage of having an appeal that is nearly VTEC-like when the better power delivery eventually manifests itself a little later in the power range.

The G37 is heavier overall as well, especially with the AWD variants because the transfer case weighs about 180 lbs.

There are additional transmission factors to take into account, since the G37’s 7-speed transmission is substantially larger than the G35’s five- or six-speed manual transmissions.

Of course, this extra weight would be felt while applying the power, especially considering that the heaviest G37 may weigh up to three times as much as the lightest G35 due to current modifications.

Therefore, even though the G37 prevails in this round of statistics, the G35 may be a superior option for those of you looking for a “raw” driving experience.

However, the G37 is perhaps a better choice if you’re looking for a more subdued, refined power output.

For the Infiniti G35, complete, precisely calibrated supercharger systems with the centrifugal, internally lubricated V-3 SCi-Trim supercharger and air-to-air charge cooler are available.

The entire system will increase your stock G35’s horsepower to 404HP (440HP on the Rev-Up) at the factory redline with 7.5-8.5 PSI from the V-2 or V-3 SCi-Trim supercharger.

How many horsepower does a G35 turbo add?

The pound-force per square inch unit of measure for boost pressure (psi). It shows how much air your turbo is forcing into your engine. It’s crucial to choose the proper boost amount for the security of your engine.

If you haven’t made any supporting mods, especially if you’re using stock internals, we advise starting out with low boost.

Given that a G35 Coupe’s base power output is 226 whp, you’ll need between 7 and 8 psi of boost to get 350 whp.

The formula “greater boost Equals more power” does not, however, always function in the same way. Only a portion of the story is revealed by the boost pressure.

Depending on the additional adjustments you make, each unit of boost can produce a different amount of power.

Your turbo’s “beginning point” will be stronger with the appropriate supporting improvements. By doing this, you can increase the power per pound of boost.

By doing this, you can achieve your desired power figure without having to overclock the boost.

A G35 is it a skyline?

Infiniti G35 is the moniker Nissan gave it for the North American market. In essence, that is comparable to the most expensive Skyline offered for sale in Japan.

The more workmanlike Nissan 350Z’s affluent cousin is the Infiniti G35. The G35, which was constructed on the same basis as the 350, gives an already potent vehicle a touch of elegance. Nissan included this jewel into its Infiniti lineup by fusing the athletic features of the 350Z with the opulent comforts you would anticipate in a high-end touring car in order to appeal to a market that values both luxury and performance.

You will spend more for the G35 than the Z by roughly $5,000, so the plush leather seats and other extras are indeed a cost. With the G35, you can also enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that your car is an R35 Skyline, which has advantages for bragging.

Since GReddy, a manufacturer of numerous high-performance equipment for the import performance market, entered the market with their turbo kit for the 350Z early on, it only made logical that they would adapt the kit to match the G35. When GReddy released a G35 kit, we leaped at the chance to try it out as well. Turbo magazine was the first outlet to test the 350Z kit, in our July 2003 issue, and our sister journal, Import Tuner, recently tested the 350Z kit with excellent success.

With the exception of a few bracket placements and a slightly modified tuning strategy, the kit essentially replicates the 350Z kit. The G35 turbo package includes two enormous 18G turbos that together can generate over 700 horsepower. The robust cast-iron manifolds are where the turbochargers are placed. The OEM throttle body receives boost pressure from the turbochargers through mandrel-bent aluminum intercooler piping. Upgraded 440cc injectors that have been fine-tuned by a GReddy e-Manage piggyback fuel computer control the fueling process.

In addition, GReddy provides an optional intercooler kit, which is strongly advised if you intend to increase the boost pressure.

As 5.5 psi of boost pressure, the G35 kit’s performance output is rated at 70 to 75 horsepower more than stock. Boost pressure can be safely increased to 6 psi when the optional intercooler package is added. A further gain of 25 to 30 horsepower is transferred to the wheels as a result of the higher boost pressure and lowered charge temperature.

We brought a G35 coupe upgraded with the twin-turbo kit and optional intercooler to SP Engineering’s Dynojet chassis dyno to demonstrate GReddy’s claims. The G35 coupe produced 342.9 horsepower and 339.2 lb-ft of torque when the boost gauge was set to six psi. The twin-turbo model produced an extra 113.1 lb-ft of torque and 113.0 horsepower over a basic G35 with an exhaust system. We saw a peak gain in torque of 118.7 lb-ft above stock at 4000 rpm.

You’re looking to purchase an R35 Skyline, but you can’t wait for Nissan to import one. Do what you can after that. Create one on your own. So that all the five-Os out there can’t truly touch you, GReddy is currently going through all the hoops and hurdles to CARB-approve the kit for both the G35 and 350Z. Unless, of course, your right foot becomes overly excited while pressing the accelerator.
