Because it is the consumers’ preferred choice, the automatic with diesel for the Venue is not available.”

The Venue diesel, priced at Rs 12.32 lakh for the top-of-the-line SX(O)DSL variant, is marketed as the nation’s most networked small SUV. This is due to the fact that it now has Hyundai’s Bluelink platform, which makes a wide range of connected functions possible. Bluelink is an AI-based system that provides convenience, safety, and security features like voice controls for car operation, stolen vehicle tracking and immobilization, geo-fence alert, overspeeding alert, and many more. Garg stated: “The percentage of cars sold for more over Rs 10 lakh was 16% in 2018, and it increased to 37% in 2020. More than 41% of these customers purchased a Hyundai product. The important thing to note in this situation is that customers are prepared to spend more to receive such desirable and practical features (such as a sunroof, voice control, and others).” Garg also revealed that the Bluelink technology, which does not require internet connectivity to perform an activity or function, has been integrated with a number of voice commands in the Venue. For instance, even in low-network locations, instructing the system to turn on the air conditioning, open the sunroof, or check the tire pressure will result in an instantaneous response. Customers of all Hyundai models with Bluelink functionality will also receive a monthly report card on their driving and vehicle performance. For the first three years after purchase, the service is provided without charge.

With its 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, Hyundai has unveiled a new intelligent manual transmission (iMT) in India that will be available on the Venue sub-compact SUV.

The 6-speed iMT from the automaker enables two-pedal manual gearshifting without the use of a clutch. It has a transmission control unit, a hydraulic actuator, and a gear changer with an intention sensor (TCU). The shift lever signals the TCU that the driver wants to change gears, and the TCU subsequently sends a signal to the hydraulic actuator to engage. This applies pressure to the pressure plate and clutch to engage and disengage the clutch.

Compared to other comparably less expensive two-pedal systems as an AMT, a manual gearbox without a clutch pedal has two major advantages. An AMT shifts gears sequentially, whether on its own or in manual mode with a slight push of the gear lever. The iMT, on the other hand, gives the driver the same flexibility to shift gears as a standard manual transmission.

The iMT system also lessens some of the strain associated with manual transmission driving without sacrificing the driver’s involvement. Hyundai claims that its new electromechanical clutch would enable smooth gear changes.

Hyundai’s 1.0-liter TGDi turbocharged engine made its Indian premiere with the Venue. That the 120PS sub-4m SUV will be the first Hyundai in India to have the iMT technology seems only right. The 6-speed manual transmission option already available for the turbo-petrol versions of the Venue will be available alongside the iMT; it will not be replaced by it. Another option for this powerplant is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. There will therefore be a total of three transmission choices available for the Venue’s 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine.

The costs of Hyundai’s new transmission option for the Venue have not yet been disclosed. The iMT versions of the turbo-petrol SUV will probably be priced between between the standard 6-speed manual and the 7-speed DCT options. Here is a reference table for your use:

Which automatic transmission is the best?

Unexpectedly, our favorite automatic transmission is the CVT, or continuously variable transmission. These have no geartrain, unlike any other automatic. Instead, the gear ratios are changed using a combination of pulleys and belts.

Fun fact: The CVT gearbox is known to have an endless amount of gear ratios because of the pulleys and belts.

The ideal transmission to use in a city may be a CVT. The TCU of a CVT keeps the engine in its sweet spot because it has an endless number of gear ratios, making this gearbox one of the most effective. These are smooth since there aren’t any physical gears to shift. If it is a stepped CVT, you won’t notice any difference in the shifts when driving gently.

If you are a new driver, our prediction is that you can choose either of the transmissions. But if forced to make a decision, we would say: 1# CVT, 2# AMT, 3# Torque Converter, 4# DCT.
