The hardest part of driving our SMG-equipped M3 on the circuit was achieving a proper launch. Walton, a senior road test editor, made the following observations: “Push the pedal all the way to the floor, brace yourself for wheelspin, revs rise to 4000, clutch releases, tires lighten, throttle is released, tires slow, wheels start to grip, almost bog, and you’re off. Simple, huh?” The system is still excellent for regular usage, though.
