Manufacturing nowadays is intriguing. A staggering 1500 people work alongside 500 machines to build a Porsche 911. A recent time-lapse film condenses the entire process, which takes two days to complete, into only four minutes. It’s fascinating to watch the first time-lapse film of a 911 build.
This specific 911 is a GT3 that was made for the racer Leh Keen. As part of Porsche’s Paint to Sample Plus program, the automobile was ordered in the extremely unusual color of Gold Bronze Metallic. A customer can choose virtually any hue with Paint to Sample Plus, which is then put through months of feasibility testing before being used. It costs $25,660 for a 911 GT3. According to the model, buyers of the 718, 911, and Taycan can now request Gold Bronze Metallic as part of the standard Paint to Sample palette for between $11,430 and $12,830. Keen’s car was the first 992 ever painted in this shade.
Keen drifts the GT3 around Atlanta Motorsports Park as soon as it “rolls off the assembly line,” which is the optimum method to break in a vehicle like this.

Any American citizen who places a vehicle order with and buys that vehicle from an authorized Porsche Dealer is eligible to use the Porsche Experience Center Delivery Program in Atlanta and Los Angeles*. All customers who place a Porsche purchase with factory specifications are eligible for the PEC Delivery Program. Customers are in charge of making their own travel arrangements, including paying for hotels and flights.
Simple steps are included in the Porsche Experience Center Delivery program:
- Order from any North American Porsche dealer that is accredited.
- Select the desired model, options, and Porsche Experience Center Delivery (ZGA or ZLA*).
- Place your purchase at least 12 weeks in advance of delivery to guarantee that you get the precise Porsche you want on the day you choose. In fewer than 12 weeks, your dealer might still be able to locate a car for you, but the choices may be constrained by production constraints. Delivery times for “special orders” with unique or unconventional interiors are dependent on the availability of the materials. Check with your dealer, please.
- The PEC Delivery Coordinator will contact the customer and dealer with a Welcome email after reviewing the Order Form, outlining more about the program and providing a window for the vehicle’s delivery. Customers should wait until their delivery date has been confirmed by the PEC Delivery Coordinator before making travel arrangements since deliveries are only scheduled by appointment. Only after the car is on the vessel are appointments made available.
You must pay your local Porsche dealer who is allowed to do so. The purchase price of the vehicle that was negotiated with your dealer is included in the total payment. PEC Delivery is available for vehicles purchased with Porsche Finance or a lease plan.
Once an order is less than two weeks from the delivery date, a cancellation fee will be charged. This will be in addition to the price of shipping the car to the dealer making the purchase.
*Customers from outside of California should speak with their dealership about the unique policies that apply to them when taking delivery at the PEC LA.

You must get the automobile its own allocation first. It sounds like your dealer might not have enough of what you desire right now. Porsche distributes allocations to dealers on a regular basis. The procedure starts once you get the allocation, and it typically takes 3 or 4 months to build and ship to your dealer. Be aware that sports cars, especially Porsches, are highly sought-after and that obtaining one can be challenging. Furthermore, COVID and the chip shortage are having an impact on all firms and slowing down output.

The specialized German carmaker showcased its Paint to Sample program, which allows buyers to choose the ideal color for their Porsche, and posted a time-lapse video on Friday that demonstrates a 911 GT3 being manufactured. In just a few short minutes, you can see this famous sports car transform from raw stampings to a roadworthy vehicle. This is a unique gift and the first time Porsche has released a feature of this kind.
What materials go into making a 911? Around 1,500 personnel are involved in the two-day process at the automaker’s Zuffenhausen, Germany, plant. At this site, the Taycan EV and 718 variants are also produced.
The majority of those roughly 48 hours are used to paint. The body is degreased before any color is applied to ensure that everything adheres as it should. The car’s body and other parts are then immersed in a bath of phosphate to help prevent rust and corrosion in the future. Components are primed after drying before being painted, and a protective clear coat is applied to seal everything in. One of these cars is painted using a standard color that is applied in three phases using around 4 liters of liquid. After painting, the finish is baked for more than 2.5 hours at 392 degrees Fahrenheit.

We placed a special order for a Cayenne Hybrid in 2012. The dealer did, however, demonstrate to us how they switched a car they had on order for their own inventory to our order. We never received information like V200 Status. “Expected Build Week” was displayed to us. It took approximately 10 or 11 weeks from the projected build week to the actual delivery.
I don’t understand why the dealer would want to sandbag you. They care about managing your expectations and keeping you satisfied, so they make sure you are fully informed. When the status changes from V200 to V250, you are reportedly unable to make adjustments, according to a rennlist post. That appears to be consistent with what your dealer mentioned regarding the short amount of time for any adjustments.

The day the car leaves the factory may also be the “finished” date. This is transported to the port by train or truck in “batches.” Depending on when your RO-RO vessel arrives in port, you may leave the plant. To put it another way, it might be physically constructed in two days and then sit on the plant’s lot for a few more. There may be a delay of 2 to 8 days. Depending on how they determine when a build is complete.

I recently ordered a RWD Taycan, and I’m wondering how long it would take to get it.
Two weeks ago, I had my local dealer customize my car; last week, I wanted to add some extras, and they informed me that at this point, the configuration couldn’t be changed. That suggests that production of my car is soon to begin, in my opinion.
How long does it take Porsche to produce a Taycan following choices freeze is my query. Any feedback is much welcomed!
How long does it take to make a Porsche?
From the time the factory gets your specifications, you will typically have your Porsche in around 12 weeks.
How long will it take to receive a new Porsche?
Porsche. Currently, most models take between 12 and 24 months to arrive. Models like the Macan are more in line with a year. 911s and Targas would be more likely to arrive within a 24-month period.
What is the turnaround time for a Porsche 718?
It usually takes 4-6+ months to receive an allocation, however depending on the dealer, it may happen right away or take years.
When can I purchase a Porsche Taycan?
Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum but have been reading threads for about a year while trying to decide on a Taycan.
I finally made the first move and paid a deposit to join the 4S Cross Turismo waitlist. The issue is that my neighborhood dealer claimed I was number 12 on the list for a CT (but didn’t say which trim).
I’m thinking about adding my name to that list today after hearing from another nearby dealer that I’d be third.
If I were #4 or #12 on the list, how long do you think it would take to actually deliver a Taycan? Neither dealer would provide me with any information. I’m now wondering whether to try to find one that is already built while I wait.
No matter where they are situated, I recommend contacting ten different Dealers to see if you can obtain an allocation more quickly. Number 4 could take between four and six months to receive an allocation before taking another six months to receive a car. This depends on the size of the Dealer. 12 sounds like 12 to 18 months, again depending on the size of the Dealer. Dealerships provide cars for sale. Just not simple to locate precisely what you can want. Watch out for dealers that are merely gathering deposits to put you on a waiting list. Good fortune.
How much time does it take to ship a Porsche from Germany?
about four to five weeks. 3.5 to 3.6 weeks at sea PLUS I’ve been told that it will take one week to get to the dealer (transport plus preparation).
Has Porsche manufacture resumed as before?
To meet demand, Porsche restarts production at the former Karmann site in Osnabruck. Basically, the site in Osnabruck, Lower Saxony, which was once a Karmann-owned company, has been running surplus capacity through overflow since Porsche manufacture began.
On a new Porsche, is there room for negotiation?
Can we still haggle over the car’s price? Yes, however this ought to be done in advance of placing the order. It will be far more challenging to convince the Porsche dealership to be flexible on price once you have placed your order for the vehicle.
