Before the official release of iOS 13.6, the BMW Connected app for the iPhone now supports Car Keys.
Last month at WWDC 2020, Apple teased that BMW drivers would be the first to be able to use its new Car Key feature. The BMW Connected app for iPhone and Apple Watch has recently been upgraded to include Car Key compatibility.
BMW informs that customers will be able to generate their Car Key in the application and then access it from the Wallet app on their iPhone or from their Apple Watch in the release notes for today’s update to the Connected application. As stated by BMW in the release notes for the current update:
BMW and Apple revealed at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference that BMW will be the first automaker to let its customers use an iPhone as a fully digital car key. Because of the two firms’ close partnership, an actual BMW automobile key is safely stored on an iPhone in Apple Wallet.
By bringing the iPhone up to the door handle and using the BMW Digital Key for the iPhone, you can lock and unlock your car and start it by setting the iPhone in the smartphone tray. Additionally, the owner of the car may grant up to 5 friends access. Your Apple Watch will also be able to access the Digital Key. The BMW Connected App can be used to configure the Digital Key, and once configured, the Digital Key is kept in Apple Wallet.
According to BMW, a “wide range” of models, including the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, X5, X6, X7, X5M, X6M, and Z4 if produced after July 1, 2020, are compatible with the Car Key capability. Consequently, although though this is a “wide range” of automobiles, it only includes the most recent models that have been produced. According to BMW, you can use the vehicle tab in the BMW Connected application to see if your vehicle is compatible.
For access to Car Key capabilities, you must have an iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or a newer model. Apple Watch compatibility is only available for the most recent Apple Watch Series 5.
Last but not least, it’s critical to remember that Car Key requires iOS 13.6, which is currently unavailable to the general public, to be installed on your iPhone. Although iOS 13.6 is still being tested by developers and the general public, given today’s BMW Connected update, its release is unquestionably close at hand.

I’m still baffled as to how I managed to lock myself out of a moving car.
I opened the car’s trunk by repeatedly pressing the central unlock button before leaving the vehicle. I don’t know exactly when or how the locks engaged, but a split second later I was locked out.
Later, I tried again, but I “could not recreate”:banghead: so perhaps it was an isolated incident.

How do you unlock a BMW?

In other words, your car has a tracking device on it that connects to the BMW Assist division via satellite. In the event of theft, accidents, or even just car failures, this option is quite helpful.
After the BMW representative has verified your information using his computer, all you have to do is go to the trunk, press the button for 10 seconds, press it again after 10-15 seconds, and keep doing so until the driver’s door unlocks. Though it’s uncommon, this could take up to 15 minutes.

According to Apple, the Digital Key can lock and unlock your car without a network connection.
