The brand was ordered by the three automakers to stop comparing reliability.
The advertisement has been taken off from national TV and will also no longer run in local markets.
Toyota’s spokesman told the source that “through negotiations with GM, we were aware they decided to pull the ad” despite Chevrolet’s assertion that the spot was retired to make place for a new Silverado campaign.
In this advertisement, Chevrolet asserts that a “recent nationwide survey” shown that its cars outperform the competitors in terms of dependability. However, the survey isn’t really brand-new. Jalopnik claims that it is based on research conducted for the 2015 model year of vehicles by the French market research company Ipsos Group S.A. Additionally, it is based on the slightly more than 48,000 responses GM got to the over 840,000 letters that Chevrolet owners wrote.
The assertion goes against the most recent reliability study made public by Consumer Reports, the leading publication in terms of consumer research.
