However, as these vehicles increasingly adhere to pollution rules, factors like DPF and the V8 diesel engine’s susceptibility to subpar fuels are tarnishing the reputation for unfailing reliability that they formerly enjoyed.
Andrew is accurate. The Land Cruiser is still the most dependable car in the world, but the inevitable march of rising safety and emissions rules is gradually taming it.
Why are vintage Land Cruisers so popular?

And last, if you’re a fan of LandCruisers, you’ll know that this new model outperforms the car it replaces on practically every metric. The waiting list extends beyond the red dirt horizon, even with the significant price increase that came with the 300—the base model is up about $10,000—
A Land Cruiser’s level of safety
The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) crash tests were won by the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser, which received the maximum five-star rating. The new SUV is seen in the aforementioned video going through all of the organization’s safety inspections.
