Can’t Add Vehicle To BMW Connected?

The new BMW Connected app will not allow you to add a new vehicle if you currently have another vehicle added to your account.

When did the My BMW Remote App debut?

BMW remote apps are not, despite appearances, a fresh invention. The initial edition of the software, known as the BMW I Remote App, debuted in 2013, followed by the BMW Connected App in 2016 and the My BMW Remote App in 2020. Each was created to be a component of the BMW ConnectedDrive system.

For those of you who don’t know, BMW ConnectedDrive is the collective name for a collection of cross-platform software solutions designed to simplify the convenience, safety, and infotainment features of BMW vehicles. It consists of the “My BMW remote app” available on your phone or wristwatch, as well as the “Digital Services” and “Driver Assistance Services” that appear on your infotainment screen.

I have followed the boards for a long and this is my first post, but right now I really need some assistance.

I recently purchased a 2019 850i, and it has the following options that appear to be connected drive and carplay compatible:

I created an account on the Connected Drive website, but when I tried using those credentials to log in, I got received an error notice, thus I was forced to use the guest profile in the car.

When I try to enter the VIN on the website, this message appears:

Please forward the following error code to customer service: f477509f-f097-4fcf-8abc-8996201cd740 (CASA MAPPING).

I assume the car can’t or isn’t permitted to go online because services like the weather forecast don’t function.

Although screen mirroring is available and there is no carplay option, I can still connect to the vehicle through WiFi.

The dealer informed me that “carplay has been deactivated due to a change in regulations” but he was unable to explain what this meant or whether they could reactivate it.

I’m mostly searching for linked drive services, such as remote start, lock/unlock from an app, and carplay (preferably in fullscreen).

My car was initially registered in Australia, but owing to a region transfer issue, I can’t link it to the web site or My BMW App to access connected-drive services.

I emailed BMW, and they said that my local dealer could just assist with the region transfer and that I could then add my car to linked drive.

When you went to a local dealer in Auckland, did you get the impression that they didn’t want to help you at all because they knew the car wasn’t new in New Zealand and that it had previously been permitted to switch regions but not any longer as a result of a recent announcement from the BMW head office? really???

Not the kind of customer service I was hoping for, and I’m going to check with BMW to make sure what I’ve been told is true since I just don’t think they’re telling the truth.
