I use the charging station, but I put the extension lead and charger inside the car with the leads exiting the back of the bonnet near the wipers and returning to the vehicle.
Another option is to optimize solar (duo if lithium) with a solar panel on the dash and a similar set up for leads out of the bonnet. fantastic if you don’t have a power outlet. If you want to recharge from close to flat, the 40w panel is better than the 20w panel.
You can charge from the rear lighter socket in the boot, however it isn’t dependable enough for me occasionally since it turns the socket off.
BTW, charging a battery directly complicates the battery management system, as previously stated, hence it is not advised.
