Which is quicker, 150 or 85?
In our stable, I have a 150, a KX85, and a KX109. The stock 85 is slower than the 150. But that 109 really destroys it.
Costs were the main motivator for keeping my child on the 2 stroke for as long as feasible. A 85’s top ends are inexpensive. It costs about the same to work on that 150 as it does the 4 strokes.
Although that wasn’t an issue for us, I’ve seen smaller kids have trouble starting that 150.
The age limit for an AMA 85 class is 150. It only has supermini. But the majority of the local outlaw races accept it.
