Anyone using the 718 a lot during the winter in New England? Am I completely insane to think this is a good course of action? As I previously mentioned, it serves as a backup vehicle. I’ll probably only be out for 20 times this season.
I consistently drove mine with Michelin Alpins on a second set of aftermarket wheels that were spec’d for the 718 during numerous winters. Even to Bretton Woods for a weekend of cross-country skiing, I’ve driven it there. A Porsche advertisement touting how excellent of a snow car it is inspired me to take that action. It performs well in snow, and they were right. Porsche offers a 10-year warranty on the bodywork against rust-through holes. Of course, you can simply drive it through the next heavy downpour to clean the underneath, or you may use a no-touch vehicle wash. One could counter that a car this lovely shouldn’t be driven in the cold, but I bought it to drive, not to admire.
