Unless this is a recent development, MANN+HUMMEL’s Korean business has always produced OEM filters for Kia/Hyundai. Although dealer replacement OEM filters have always been from Korea, there was a time when some U.S.-built cars left the factory with a Mahle made filter (marked made in Austria). I’ve only ever used a Wix filter once, and I wasn’t impressed. Extremely lopsided pleating, extra glue globs at the end plates. It worked, but it cost far more than what I was paying for OEM at the nearby dealership and much more than what I am currently spending for mail order. The crush washer that is included in the -3C100 kit is also absent from the Wix kit.
I couldn’t care less how other people use filters. Simply said, I don’t understand why these cars shouldn’t use the OEM filter kits.
