What about a backup camera in a 2012 Kia Soul Base?
SAFETY The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has designated the 2012 Soul a Top Safety Pick. A car must get the highest score of Good in frontal offset, side impact, rear, and roof strength crash tests to receive this safety nod. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s crash tests, it achieved an overall rating of four out of five stars. In the frontal and rollover crash tests, it received four out of five stars, while in the side-impact crash test, it received five stars.
Front-wheel drive, all-disc antilock brakes with braking assist, active front head restraints, an electronic stability system with traction control, six airbags, including side curtains for both rows, and active front head restraints are all standard safety equipment on the Soul. The top trim level comes with a backup camera as standard equipment; other trims can choose to add one.
The Kia Soul (2014) has a backup camera, right?
Technology. The Soul offers strong technology for its class, including a rearview camera system that is optional. A USB connector, an auxiliary input jack, six audio speakers, satellite radio, Bluetooth for hands-free calling, and audio streaming are all included as standard tech features in the base trim.
Is there a backup camera on the 2017 Kia Soul?
This year, the 2017 Kia Soul receives a much-needed engine boost to go along with its attractive design and excellent packaging.
The small hatchback is one of our favorites in terms of design and adaptability, and that’s before we even discuss the beginning price.
On our scale, the 2017 Soul scores a 6.5. The only flaws in the Soul’s appearance and functionality are its base models’ overall performance and its subpar fuel economy ratings. (Learn more about our rating system for automobiles.)
The Kia Soul has a lot of appeal thanks to its boxy, small posture. It’s a shape that has been with us for a while but manages to stay fresh. Perhaps this is due to the roofline and proportions being just right; large body panels and angular shapes serve to compliment rather than overpower these features.
The Soul is a little more attentive and muted inside. The dash is almost entirely of black plastic, although there are smatterings of chrome and shiny trim that liven up the monotonous areas.
The Soul is available in base, Plus, and Exclaim trims, each with a separate engine and transmission (Kia employs the punctuation “+” and “!” marks, which we’ll skip for clarity).
Base models come with a sluggish, 6-speed manual or automatic, 1.6-liter inline-4 engine with 130 horsepower. It’s suitable for city driving, but we’ll be honest: base cars are sluggish.
The 161-hp 2.0-liter inline-4 in Plus models has a 6-speed automated that somewhat quickens the pace. These vehicles perform better on highways, although a seeking 6-speed has a tendency to lessen the enjoyment.
The Elantra Sport’s 201-hp turbo-4 is available on the new top-of-the-line Exclaim versions, giving the Soul more assurance without necessarily making it more sporty. It only comes with a slick shifting 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which we really enjoy. However, once the turbo variants are cranked past 4,000 rpm, they still howl like the other models.
Although its ride is a little rough and its elevated center of gravity doesn’t assist much on curvy roads, the Soul always maintains composure on the road.
The internal packaging of the Soul is excellent, offering space for four adults and a ton of gear. More than 24 cubic feet of gear may be crammed behind the back seats when the seats are up. More than 60 cubes may fit inside the Soul when the 60/40 split back seats are folded down.
The compact footprint of the Soul is large enough to accommodate most body types. Our favorite feature: rear passengers have more legroom than 39 inches, which is more than many SUVs have.
The Soul has received top “Good” ratings from the IIHS and federal testers, who have given it a five-star overall rating. It falls short of receiving better grades for a few reasons.
Among them? The cost of installing a rearview camera on base models is more than $2,000 dollars. The rearview camera is included in a $1,560 (or $500 for lower models) optional package that costs $500 and calls for an automatic transmission.
Aside from our complaints about the rearview camera, the Soul comes with a 60/40-split folding back seat, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and cloth seats. Due to the absence of some items like cruise control and a center console armrest, we would refrain from describing that base equipment as superb.
a plethora of choices 8.0-inch touchscreens, ventilated seats, and leather are also options for bundles. Although its beginning price of more than $20,000 looks like a far cry from the $16,840 entrance price for base models, plus models may strike the sweet spot for many purchasers.
A heavy hand on the options list can push the Soul’s price tag above $25,000, but at least buyers will be able to brag about choosing a vehicle with a “Primo Package” when it leaves the factory, which is good.
Is there a backup camera on the 2016 Kia Soul?
The Soul+ and! come with a rearview camera as standard equipment, and the Convenience package, an add-on, makes one available on the base trim. Lane departure and forward collision alerts are optional in For the Soul!

The 2015 Soul distinguishes itself from the competition with a blend of distinctive personality, engaging driving dynamics, and high-end interior features. Geo-fencing, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score2 are the four new features that UVO eServices is introducing for 2015. Additionally, several apps can now be downloaded for free from Google Play4 or iTunes3 with the launch of the Kia App store. A rear backup camera display9, auto-on/off headlights, and front fog lights are all included in the package. The Exclaim comes with UVO eServices as standard.
A new interior Umber Color Package for the Exclaim vehicle is available for 2015, and it goes well with either the Fathom Blue or Cloud White exterior colors. Premium Nappa leather seating surfaces and door armrest accents are included with the option package. Gloss Black wheel inlays on the exterior further distinguish the Umber Color Package.
A 1.6-liter all-aluminum DOHC four-cylinder gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine with 130 horsepower (at 6,300 rpm) powers the Base Soul. At 4,850 revs per minute, the GAMMA engine generates 118 lb.-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter NU power plant with GDI technology is more potent and is available on the Plus and Exclaim versions. 164 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque are rated at 6,200 and 4,000 revolutions per minute, respectively. A six-speed manual transmission or an additional six-speed automatic are both available for the 1.6-liter engine. Only the six-speed automatic gearbox is offered with the Plus and Exclaim versions.

The 2018 Kia Soul has a sterling warranty, but its features are bundled in unusual and expensive ways.
With the Soul, Kia provides outstanding warranty coverage and dresses it up with unique trim levels and powertrains. However, several items that come as standard in less costly cars are not included.
We rate it a 6 out of 10, giving it an extra point for the great standard warranty that extends to 10 years and 100,000 miles for the powertrain and is good for 5 years and 60,000 miles. (Learn more about our rating system for automobiles.)
The standard, Plus, and Exclaim variants of the Kia Soul are available. (Kia employs punctuation; we continue to use the written word.)
The standard 2018 Kia Soul has a 6-speed manual transmission and a 1.6-liter inline-4 engine. It has Bluetooth, air conditioning, satellite radio, a split-folding back seat, but without a center armrest, cruise control, or a rearview camera. You will spend thousands of dollars more than the nominal basic price to add some typical features like a camera and a large touchscreen.
We do suggest the convenience package, which adds Kia’s superb Uvo infotainment system to the base model; it comes standard on other variants, and the rearview camera option on any model. Uvo utilizes Android software and is quick and simple to use.
A 2.0-liter inline-4 and a rearview camera with a 5.0-inch touchscreen are included with the Kia Soul Plus. It sports body-color trim and 17-inch wheels. A sunroof, 18-inch wheels, vented front seats, and heated front and back seats are available extras. Only on this model level does Kia feature standard forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking. Even though adaptive cruise control is included, it adds nothing to the Soul’s otherwise excellent safety rating.
Keyless ignition, a turbocharged inline-4, 18-inch wheels, red and black gloss detailing, leather seats, and piano-black interior accents are all included with the Soul Exclaim. Oddly enough, it lacks some of the optional convenience features sold on the Soul Plus, like the ability to have heated front seats with fewer adjustments and front seats that can be cooled. Additionally, automatic emergency braking is not an option.
The Kia Soul from 2018 does it feature a backup camera?
The Soul has a wide range of technological possibilities, though. Automatic emergency braking, frontal collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, a blind spot system, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera are all available safety features from Kia.
The Kia Soul from 2022 has a backup camera?
There are some extremely fascinating technological elements included in the 2022 Kia Soul that will make your life simpler and more convenient. With Apple CarPlay and Android AutoTM integration, it boasts a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen display with a rearview camera and allows you to easily connect your smartphone to your vehicle. Other significant technological advancements include:
How far will a Kia Soul drive?
A well-kept Kia Soul typically has 200,000 kilometers or more on it. The most recent models should last longer. The Kia Soul now competes with Honda and Toyota models when it comes to a vehicle’s longevity.
Is the 2014 Kia Soul being recalled?
Some 2014 Soul vehicles are being recalled by Kia Motors America (Kia). If the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) cannot communicate with the front impact sensors during a collision, the front air bags may not deploy. Tip: Not all vehicles from the same year, make, and model are subject to recalls.
