I’ve had to invest money in it ever since I bought it. Tires, oil leaks, an engine rattle that no one can locate, something under the vehicle that has been shaking, and faulty sensors that keep happening. In all honesty, I don’t think there would be as many issues if I had purchased the car brand-new.
Up until 70k miles, the car functioned well. Then, it caught fire, lost power, burned the radiator cap due to fire and overheating, and the Kia dealer discovered metal in the engine and coolant. When a manufacturing flaw causing metal and engine failure was discovered, Kia only recalled the 4 cylinder cars. I have a six-cylinder SX. The exact same issues as the 4 cylinder cars that were recalled exist, but Kia won’t take any action because my vehicle wasn’t involved in the recall. Maybe it SHOULD have been, though. There are numerous documented complaints regarding such issues from other SX owners. A used 2013 engine replacement cost me $12k from the Kia dealer, and the replacement engine is already exhibiting the same symptoms. Kia and its Lakeville, Minnesota, dealership need to stop hiding their heads in the sand. Kia recalled more than a million vehicles. But even more of them were flawed! even several models. So it is false to claim that only 4 cylinder vehicles had issues. My service record was deemed “excellent” by the dealership since I never missed an oil change, never had a problem, and never missed anything else.
