Going wireless is standard; whether or not it is efficient, it is simple, easy, and ergonomic. Easy, huh? Well, when it comes to Android Auto, it is typically difficult to find a wireless option (AA). Even with their most expensive models, the majority of automakers do not offer wireless AA. To connect, you must utilize a wire or a dongle of some kind. It eliminates the inconvenience of attaching and removing the wire to your phone every time you get into the car, even if it is not a fully wireless solution since the dongle would link with a wire to your infotainment system.
There aren’t enough options to convert wired AA to wireless AA for sale on the market because the majority of users don’t care whether it is wired or wireless. There are some Chinese dongles, but they are not even 1% reliable. In 2020, the crowdfunded Indiegogo project AAWireless offered the first trustworthy choice. The second option was introduced by Motorola sometime last year, but shortly online forums began to highlight its shortcomings. And it is difficult to obtain, particularly in India.
AAWireless is currently crowdfunded, its production is dependent on large orders, and this pandemic makes it so that the product can only be delivered in batches. However, there is a sizable customer base, online assistance is offered, and they ship to India. I’ll get into details, but once you have one, it depends on a lot of factors to function.
It was ordered in January, and delivery was scheduled for March. Although product owners provide updates on the status, there are delays that are beyond their control. It was ultimately delivered in the third week of April. Please take note that although the seller transfers the gadget to India duty-free, the Indian courier provider may attempt to charge you for customs duties. Simply disregard that and send a message or open a ticket at the CP & EB Freshdesk; they will take care of it.
The little box the device comes in contains a QR code on the back that may be used to download the complimentary Android app.
If you’re lucky, downloading the app simply requires four steps and one prerequisite (the app will guide you). I’ll describe the procedure and some tips for making it work (perhaps because it did for my 2020 Seltos GTX+ and Samsung S21).
Before you do anything, go to your phone’s settings, look for the Advanced option of AA, and, if it isn’t already, enable the Developer option. Turn on “Add wireless projection to settings” from the developer options menu in the top-right corner.
Connecting steps:
- start the vehicle
- Utilize the USB cable provided to connect the device to the AA USB port in the vehicle.
- If your automobile Bluetooth is already set up, unplug from the Bluetooth menu on your phone before it searches for an AAWireless device this time. Pick AAWireless device from the list on the search screen of the AAWireless app. It will connect to an AAWireless device and might request some permissions from you. Permit them.
- It will open the app in normal mode on a mobile device and make all-default attempts to connect to the car’s AA.
Your infotainment system might, with any luck, display AA. However, some troubleshooting may only need to be attempted once. For it to function for me, two settings had to be made.
For it to function in my case, I had to set the following. Open the AAWireless app and select settings.
- set MTP as the USB mode (from Default)
- Pass through should be enabled.
After the initial setup and debugging, connecting is simple from that point on. When you turn on the car, your phone would automatically connect if WiFi and Bluetooth are constantly turned on. And AA connects to the car infotainment in around 15 seconds. For the brief time I tried them, Google Maps and Amazon Music both performed wonderfully. No lag has yet been seen. Will update this topic once I have used it fully for a while.
Additionally, all AAWireless users can discuss the problems, fixes, and workarounds in this thread.

Is Android Auto wireless in a Kia?
The Kia Carens’ 10.25-inch entertainment system, according to the brochure, offers wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. That is major news. The Kia Carens would be the first Hyundai/Kia vehicle in the world to offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the 10.25-inch infotainment system if this information is accurate and not a typing error.
Although the less expensive HTX variant comes with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, I regret booking the Kia Sonet GTX Plus 1.5 Diesel Automatic because it lacks such features.
People are debating whether Hyundai/Kia will update the 10.25-inch infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay in a number of threads on forums all around the world that can be found online if you do a search for them. And if they won’t give the capability formally, users are looking for methods to modify the device in an effort to make it wirelessly connectable.
Although wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto may not seem like a huge issue, in my perspective, they are. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can be used without having to constantly insert your phone into the infotainment system. I think the wires near the gear lever are unsightly and quite distracting (at least for someone like me who is obsessed with keeping things organized). More crucially, if you want to utilize Android Auto or Apple CarPlay with the existing 10.25-inch infotainment systems, you can’t use the wireless charger.
If my car has the wireless connectivity option, I wouldn’t have to utilize cables for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay every day for the next 10 years (five working days when I drive to my workplace, I mean), considering that I will be driving for more than 10 years. That really means a lot to me.
The wifi option is so incredibly practical. As soon as you get in your car, the infotainment screen will automatically display Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Now all you have to do is set the phone on the wireless charger. You are prepared. There are no unsightly wires that could distract you when driving around the gear lever. Additionally, you don’t need to unplug the phone before exiting the vehicle. Although unplugging is only a minor inconvenience, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are far more practical.
The 10.25-inch infotainment system in the Kia Carens has updated software to allow wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, but I’m not sure if it’s the same one we get in other Hyundai/Kia vehicles or if it has separate hardware. If it is the same unit, then I predict that all current vehicles with 10.25-inch infotainment systems can likewise support wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, providing Hyundai/Kia is kind enough to issue a software update. This news excites me much.

The Kia Seltos from 2021 does it offer wifi Android Auto?
I recently purchased a 10.25″ touch screen infotainment system equipped Kia Seltos HTX IVT (likely an India-bound model), and I have a few questions about it.
1. I discovered that while the higher HTK+ variant with 10.25″ doesn’t have one, the lesser variant with 8″ infotainment does. Will Kia release software upgrades to enable the function, then?
2. Is there built-in WiFi on the 10.25″ infotainment system?
3. What type of OS is installed on the 10.25″ system?
I never asked the executive about wireless Android Auto since I always assumed that the HTX included all of the capabilities of lower models, as stated in their brochure.
When I tried to contact Kia Customer Care, they forwarded my questions to the nearby Kia service center, which, in my opinion, didn’t really address any of them.
How can I wirelessly link my Kia Seltos to CarPlay?
On your in-car display, click the “Setup” key, then click “Connectivity.” You should see “Apple CarPlayTM” in the list of possibilities that this should generate. Make sure it is turned on by clicking it. Connect your iPhone to the Kia’s USB port, then go back to the main screen.
If my car has wireless CarPlay, how do I know?
- Connect your iPhone to the USB port in your car if it supports CarPlay with a USB cord. There may be a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon on the USB port’s label. Use an Apple Lightning to USB cable exclusively.
- Connect your iPhone to the USB port in your car if your vehicle supports CarPlay both wirelessly and via USB cable. On your next drive, a notification on your iPhone will offer to link you wirelessly.
- Simply press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel if your car only supports wireless CarPlay. Ensure that Bluetooth or wireless mode is selected on your stereo. Select your vehicle by going to Settings > General > CarPlay on your iPhone. For more details, consult your car’s owner’s manual.
