Although the car’s audio system is less remarkable, it never reaches the point where I can’t listen to it. Kia Picanto (2017) review: Safety and driver assistance
There aren’t many driving assistance devices available, but that isn’t particularly unique in this segment of the market. The top-of-the-line GT Line-S model and cars with grade 3 specification come with a rear parking camera but oddly, no sensors. As a result, there is no automatic parking and the camera doesn’t beep as you go closer to the car in front of you. However, this is a very small car. Its turning circle is 9.4m and it is 3.6m from nose to tail, so if you’re having difficulties parking, you probably need to practice more.
The safety technology is a little more advanced. AEB (autonomous emergency braking) is standard on vehicles starting in grade 3, and all Picanto models come equipped with torque vectoring via braking and hill start aid. This system softly brakes the inside rear wheel if the vehicle is running wide or the outside rear wheel if the rear end starts to slide out to increase grip and security when cornering.

But keep in mind that this is not a vehicle made for long highway drives or rambling over the Tuscan hills. It’s a city automobile made for quick trips to Waitrose for the weekly groceries or to Ikea to get a new lamp shade.
Kia Picanto (2017) review: Prices and verdict
The 2017 Kia Picanto delivers a lot of tech and safety features for a little city car, and Kia did an excellent job of blending that with an assertive new look and a satisfying drive.
To fully benefit from the finer interior and tech package, though, you’ll need to choose a grade 3 trim car or the Picanto GT-Line S because there is no upgrade option for lesser levels of trim. This raises the price from 8,660 at retail to a minimum of 11,860, which is a significant price premium.
Overall overall, we give the 2017 Kia Picanto a thumbs up. In its top spec form, it’s a stylish, entertaining city vehicle with a surprisingly capable array of tech hidden inside.
