VW still produces the Jetta?
Volkswagen is aware of the possibility of purchasing an expensive but sophisticated German vehicle for less money. The Jetta compact sedan has found success with either Honda or Mazda as a partner. However, it is also acutely aware of how strong its competitors have become. An updated Volkswagen Jetta will have new features, technologies, and improvements for 2022 that will increase its value offer.
The current Mazda3 and seventh-generation Jetta both made their debuts in 2019. Hyundai released a new Elantra in late 2020, while Honda recently unveiled its brand-new 2022 Civic. These gleaming new arrivals dominate their class thanks to their superior appearance, space, functionality, and features.
But except from the hot-rod GLI version, the Jetta received early flak for its lackluster performance. Furthermore, it noticeably lacked driver-assist technologies. Although the Jetta excels in terms of comfort and fuel economy, a low price and Teutonic DNA only go so far when the greatest equipment is saved for more expensive variants.
The Jetta is still VW’s third-best selling model in the United States and outsells several of its rivals, even in these crossover-heavy times. According to MotorIntelligence, nearly 41,700 Jetta purchasers drove away in the first half of 2021 as opposed to just 21,635 Mazda3 sales. Despite having a five-year-old design, the segment-leading Honda Civic outsold both of these with sales of 152,950 during the same time period.
Although sales of compact cars may not be what they once were, more than a million purchasers nonetheless opted for one in 2020. Additionally, 29% of Volkswagen’s sales in the United States are still cars, almost all of which are Jettas.
Volkswagen poured more power and active safety features into the lower-end models, crammed more tech niceties and easier purchasing options throughout the board, all in an effort to attract more customers and perhaps woo some yearning for the now-gone Golf. The sportier Jetta GLI, which accounts for around 10% of sales, according to the firm, also receives improvements. The updates are largely intended for the popular Jetta model cars.
