The transaction of the company formerly known as Plaza Lexus between Asbury Automotive Group and the Gurley Leep Automotive Family was finalized on Monday, February 14. Spirit Lexus is now the name of the new company.
Since 1998, Plaza Motors, which currently encompasses numerous new vehicle dealerships in Creve Coeur, including Plaza Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW, and Infiniti in addition to the former Plaza Lexus, has been owned and operated by Asbury Automotive. “According to David Hult, president and chief executive officer of Asbury, “St. Louis is a significant market for us, and we have a deep relationship to the community. We are delighted to continue serving our customers at the Plaza dealerships in the city of Creve Coeur.”
The Gurley Leep Automotive Family, which was established in 1973 by Mike Leep, Sr., owns two Lexus dealerships, the second of which is Spirit Lexus. Gurley Leep Automotive Family President Mike Leep, Jr. said, “We are thrilled to expand the Gurley Leep Family with a second Lexus dealership. We intend to spread the greater St. Louis area’s principles of family service of the highest caliber and charitable giving. The Gurley Leep Automotive Family currently runs 21 dealerships in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, and Illinois, representing 16 distinct automobile brands with 29 franchise locations. The current facility will remain the base of operations for Spirit Lexus.
