The Lexus LFA supercar is famed for its tremendous soundtrack, which is the absolute definition of spine-tingling loudness, whether heard from within or outside the car.
The V10’s acoustics were tuned to deliver an exhaust note resembling that of a Formula 1 car, and a trio of optimized sound channels were used to fill the interior with thunderous intake and exhaust noises, so these characteristics weren’t an afterthought.
To increase the joy of driving, similar elements have been added to the Lexus IS line.
For example, the IS 250 F Sport has an Intake Sound Creator to produce a sportier engine note. Similar to the LFA, the Intake Sound Creator amplifies the natural vibration of the intake pulse using a specific damper (see diagram of intake tubing below), then directs the amplified vibration into the cabin as an appealingly athletic intake roar.
The IS 300h improves the driving experience entirely through a new method. Active Sound Control (ASC), a new technology that is a first for Lexus, adds audio to the engine sound through a dedicated loudspeaker concealed below the dashboard. The exhilarating sound of acceleration and deceleration is delivered by the volume-adjustable ASC even when the hybrid system’s engine is turned off and the vehicle is just using its electric motor for propulsion (see below). However, when Eco or EV mode is chosen, the audio feed is immediately turned off.

Active Sound Control: What Is It?
Using electroacoustic transducers, most often loudspeakers, active sound control is the process of modifying a sound field.
Why does the Lexus RC have ASC?
a shorthand for “The RC 200t, RC 300, and RC 350’s engines can have their engine noise adjusted using Active Sound Control, a Lexus function. While the Lexus LFA’s symphonic V-10 engine won’t sound like the turbocharged four-cylinder in the RC 200t, ASC automatically amplifies engine noise by producing an engine-like sound that is heard through interior speakers at high engine speeds.
It’s not uncommon to create specific frequencies or increase engine sound to make it fuller or more polished, but what makes Lexus’ adaptation special is that the ASC dial offers control over the total sound loudness as well as the option to completely turn it off.
The loudness within the RC 200t is substantially improved when Active Sound Control is turned all the way up in Normal and Sport settings. However, I didn’t find it to be a very pleasant sound, and it sounded overly digitally processed, similar to Namco’s 1982 game’s soundtrack “Video game Pole Position. You could enjoy it because engine sound preferences are just as individualized as musical genre preferences. On a sports coupe like the Lexus RC, the flexibility is a pleasant feature regardless of the situation.
What does a car’s adaptive sound control do?
Want to change the noise cancellation settings? Are you curious to experiment with ambient sound or noise cancellation? Adaptive Sound Control is a function of Sony’s Headphones Connect app. Let’s see how it enhances your listening experience.
SONY | Headphones Connect mobile app & Adaptive Sound Control (ASC)
You are asked to enable the ASC setting when first installing SONY | Headphones Connect. Adaptive Sound Control is the abbreviation. Depending on one of four motion optionssitting, walking, running, or transportationAdaptive Sound Control automatically modifies the headphones’ sound settings.
After your headset’s firmware has been updated, Adaptive Sound Control on the Headphones Connect app can automatically turn ON and make the Ambient Sound Control setting available. However, the noise cancelling features may appear inadequate if the headset is set to Ambient Sound Control.
Depending on the user’s movement, the ambient noise level is changed. Despite being predefined, these modes can be altered!
Let’s look at the action preset [Sitting], for instance: Ambient Sound Control’s default setting is “Ambient Sound level 20,” which stays away from “Noise Cancelling.” That indicates that Ambient Sound is turned on and is emitting a respectable amount of ambient noise. On the other side, this immediately lowers the N/C level. To hear the original noise-cancelling performance, try adjusting the settings using the following technique.
How can I change Adaptive Sound Control to set Noise Cancelling levels to the maximum?
- start the “After pairing your headphones with your smartphone via Bluetooth, open the SONY | Headphones Connect App.
- Turn “OFF for adaptive sound control (if this setting is ON)
You can modify the “Ambient Sound Control setting based on the following 4 preset actions if you want to use “Adaptive Sound Control: Transport: StandingWalkingRunning. These four presets can be customized to your favorite mode or volume.
- the [Ambient Sound Control] switch to ON. Remember to check that Noise-Cancellation is turned ON. To adjust the level, move the slider.
- After wearing the device, tap [START] to activate the “Noise Cancelling Optimiser”. (With WF-1000X excluded) The effects of noise cancellation are maximized by optimization.
How can my exhaust sound more athletic?
Making your exhaust sound louder creates a different, though equally pleasurable, impression that the car you are driving is a formidable opponent.
- First, swap out the muffler.
- Add or replace the exhaust tip in step two.
- Have the exhaust tubing evaluated as the third step.
- Consider a turbocharger in step four.

What is a Lexus F-Sport model?
This unique kit is offered on a few Lexus vehicles. The handling and aggressive factory features are improved in Lexus F-Sport variants. The factory-installed, fine-tuned chassis is arguably one of the Lexus F-most Sport’s noticeable features. In addition to having precise suspension calibration, this gives Lexus F-Sport cars quick, precise handling and a lot of personality.
Is the Lexus quiet?
The Audi A8 is one of the quietest vehicles on the market, according to WheelScene, because of its low NVH levels. The Audi features a quiet sound and dual-pane acoustic glass that muffles any outside noise, even though it can be noisy when the gas pedal is depressed. Anyone who can afford the high starting price will find the revamped Audi A8’s interior quiet, with leather and wood accents, suede trim pieces, and other appealing elements.
A mid-size luxury vehicle, the Lexus GS is often quiet, especially when being driven on the highway. When pushed hard, the rear-wheel-drive car makes some exhaust noise, but it still merits its spot as one of the quietest vehicles available.
What automobiles use active noise cancellation?
For a quieter journey, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled the first Road Noise Active Noise Control (RANC) system in the world. By producing soundwaves that are reversed from the incoming noise, the technology actively decreases noise.
Automakers need to take into account a few key components if they wish to build comfortable vehicles. The most crucial aspect, aside from premium cabin materials, an ergonomic design, and comfortable driving, would be cabin quietness.
Can active noise cancellation be added to a car?
In a nutshell, yes. If active noise cancellation in cars weren’t safe, they simply wouldn’t have it installed in them.
In autos, active noise cancellation equipment can only muffle steady white noise like engine and road noise. Because horns and emergency vehicle sirens are constantly changing sounds that are not white noise and cannot be muted, they cannot be cancelled out.
Because your own white noise is gone thanks to ANC technology, you will be able to hear intermittent noises like a police car or ambulance sirens more clearly. This will make your travel safer. (Source)
How do Lexus engines function?
The Lexus Hybrid Drive’s fundamental driving force is to achieve significant fuel economy and emission reductions while retaining the strength and range of a gasoline-powered car.
A hybrid Lexus has two power sources and two fuel sources, in contrast to a regular petrol or an all-electric vehicle. A Lexus hybrid vehicle has a combustion engine that runs on gasoline and an electric motor that runs on cutting-edge batteries without the need for a plug-in.
The generator that the gasoline engine drives, in turn, charges the batteries as it runs. As you brake and when you are coasting without depressing the throttle, the battery charges further. Your Lexus Hybrid charges itself while you drive, so you don’t have to worry about cutting short a country trip to find an electric vehicle charging dock.
The cutting-edge batteries are made to endure the entire life of the automobile, guaranteeing a very inexpensive drive, minimal maintenance, and significant carbon emission reductions.
In fact, since an electric-supported drive results in large reductions in gasoline usage, frequent excursions to the gas station will become a thing of the past. Simply fill up your Lexus as usual at a gas station, but at a lesser frequency. In fact, if you choose the Lexus Hybrid difference, no driver adjustment is necessary.
The driver is left with no choice but to savor the distinctive Lexus ride as the engine management system evaluates road conditions and driving demands, switching discreetly and smoothly between two engines. Urban driving may be completely emission-free with an all-electric vehicle. However, the petrol engine is activated in a split second when you need the extra power for that steep slope.
The performance is exceptional. Every journey is an unforgettable experience thanks to the exhilaration of two engines operating in unison. Regardless of whatever engine is providing the power, the Lexus Hybrid gives a greater throttle response.
Combining gasoline and electricity also results in a smoother, quieter driving experience. As a result, driving will be more comfortable for the driver and passengers.
