Are oil changes covered by the warranty on an Audi?
The Audi warranty offers a complete protection against subpar materials or workmanship. Audi does not offer an additional warranty for the power train. There is an extended warranty for possibly defective engines on specific Audi models. For all Audi vehicles, the basic warranty includes:
- The entire car is covered for four years or 50,000 miles by Audi. This coverage, which covers everything for flaws and poor craftsmanship, extends bumper to bumper. Items damaged in collisions or by the car owner are typically not covered by the warranty. There are a few exceptions to the rule that things that degrade through normal wear and tear are not covered by the guarantee. The replacement of the halogen headlamp and instrument panel bulbs is covered under the warranty.
- Equipment that emits emissions is covered for five years or 50,000 miles.
- Depending on the model, the drive train warranty may provide coverage above and above the standard warranty. The transmission, engine, driveshaft, and drive axles are all covered under the drive train warranty. Belts and hoses are not protected, although the majority of engine internals are.
- A 12-year corrosion warranty is offered. The distance driven is not a restriction. This guarantee covers sheet metal Audi body parts that corrode and develop holes. - There are a few maintenance and repair needs in order to maintain the vehicle’s warranty for the duration of its eligibility. All repairs must be carried out at an Audi dealership, unless they are urgently required. It is not necessary for the replacement components to be brand-new. Any damage caused by aftermarket systems or accessories after installation voids the manufacturer’s warranty for those components.
- To maintain the vehicle’s warranty eligibility, regular maintenance must be carried out as described in the Audi owner’s manual. Customers must have proof that routine maintenance has been carried out in the form of documentation.

Why does an Audi warranty expire?
You can technically customize your vehicle. You can do whatever you want to it because you own it, but doing so could void your warranty. However, a federal law in the United States known as the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act expressly prevents producers from pressuring their customers to use their brand-name goods or a certain service. As stated in the act:
The use of any product-related item or service (except than those freebies given in accordance with the guarantee’s terms) that is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name is not a condition of any consumer product warrantor’s explicit or implied warranty.
In essence, the Act guarantees that customers won’t lose their warranty if they don’t take their cars to reputable dealers and shops for repairs and maintenance. Therefore, if you own an Audi, the Magnuson Moss Guarantee Act permits you to look for reasonably priced parts from other dealers without jeopardizing your Audi warranty.
But what if you want to tune your car rather than just fix or maintain it? The Federal Trade Commission takes the following stance on the matter:
The manufacturer or dealer has the right to refuse coverage for an aftermarket or recycled part and to charge you for any necessary repairs if it turns out that the aftermarket or recycled part was in fact flawed or improperly installed and it damaged another item that is covered by the warranty.
Therefore, if performance tuning your car results in an upgrade that breaks down a stock part, your dealer may void the warranty on that part. Audi cannot refuse to fix your car or breach your warranty, for instance, if you tune your engine and the next day your sound system stops operating.
Does the tire warranty for new Audi cars apply?
- Replaces a tire that has been structurally harmed by a covered road hazard. If damage from a road hazard stops a wheel from sealing to a tire or from maintaining the air pressure recommended by the tire manufacturer, it must be replaced.

Component Coverage

The VSP may also be terminated at any time after 30 days with an additional $50 cost.
Audi also offers additional coverage that can be purchased, such as 1) Lease-End Protection, which protects against excess wear and tear costs up to $10,000, 2) Multi-Coverage Protection, which maintains the vehicle’s performance and appearance, and 3) Tire and Wheel Protection, which pays for the replacement of tires and wheels for up to seven years if they are harmed by road hazards.

How Much Should The Entire Service Cost? Two oil changes at $100 each plus a replacement spark plug at $125 equals $325.
The 20/30/40/50k plan is the only one of the Audi Care plans that will even come close to being a fair deal if you decide to purchase one.
Even if any ASE-certified technician can perform the service for you, you will lose a little bit on the balance. However, if you value having a dealership perform the service, it can be worthwhile for you.
My advice is to always weigh your options when entering into a service agreement like this. It’s not as difficult to do things yourself as you would imagine, even for fundamentals like changing the oil.
