The 2018 Audi Q7 does not come with a spare tire. For up to 100 miles after a puncture, run-flat tires can still be used. On the 2.0T Premium base trim, they are an optional extra. In order to fix a ruptured tire, Audi includes a kit containing sealant and a tiny air compressor.

Has the Q7 from 2021 got a spare tire?
Do not utilize the little spare tire that likely resides inside your 2021 Audi Q7 as a substitute for having your tire repaired. It is only designed to be used for a short period of time.
On a 2019 Audi Q7, where is the spare tire located?
Luxury automobile customers in India are showing some reluctance toward Audi’s Q7, which was once without a doubt the best-selling luxury SUV in the nation. Oddly enough, the spare tire’s location, which is currently fastened to one of the seats in the third row, is at the center of the issue.
This “jugaad” was necessary because there isn’t room under the boot floor for a full-size spare. In an effort to make the automobile lighter and achieve a lower CO2 rating, car manufacturers today no longer provide a spare, which also means there is no room for one. Audi dealers have attempted to sell the vehicle without the spare, but today’s buyers are well-informed and demand one, only to discover they have nowhere to store it.
The Q7’s spare tire location has encountered some opposition from customers of high-end SUVs.
With its folding space saver, Audi believes it has the answer. The “collapsed” or shrink-wrapped spare tire is essentially a small-size rim with a tyre thrown over it. To use it, you must first fill the tire with compressed air before waiting for it to inflate. As you continue to pump air into the tire, the corrugated rubber pieces will gradually start to pop up one at a time. In fact, according to industry sources, Audi India is so eager to adopt this solution that the firm has requested that Audi AG make significant, expensive sheet metal improvements to the Q7’s boot area.
Is there a spare tire included with the 2019 Audi Q7?
The majority of the CarAdvice team can’t get enough of our 2019 Audi Q7 50TDI long-termer. Every time there is an option, hands go up, and after a weekend road trip, nobody wants to get out of it either. In that regard, it successfully checks the boxes needed of a large, family SUV.
It will also need to check off the box of an accomplished long-distance traveler. After all, many Australian families like doing that on long weekends, during school breaks, or whenever the desire strikes. Most of us who live in large cities can reach a charming country village in under two hours, depending on traffic of course.
Fortunately, the large Audi is also easy to maneuver through traffic, but this upgrade is more regional.
To test a few things, we drove the Q7 through Wagga Wagga and into Griffith in the NSW Riverina. In order, long-distance fuel consumption, coarse-chip B-road ride quality, comfort, and flexibility.
According to the numbers, the 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 in 50TDI form produces an easy 200kW and 600Nm, making it appear on paper to be a simple and effective long-distance touring SUV. Recall that the starting price of our 50TDI is $106,900 before on-road expenses.
While the Q7’s fuel economy on city streets (just under 10L/100km) had impressed us, on the open road heading south out of Sydney, the live reading almost immediately went into single digits and averaged in the mid-sevens for the whole trip. That is quite remarkable for such a big SUV. Even while it wasn’t crammed to the gills with luggage and was only two-up, it did bring back a sizable load of regional produce (wine, fruit, and local beer) to add to the touring load on the return trip.
However, for a vehicle of this size and capability, anything under 10L/100km is impressive. It also demonstrates how much superior the current diesel engine is than it has ever been, which is why we frequently advise diesel engines to customers who reside in or frequently visit rural areas. In terms of actual efficiency, there truly isn’t a comparison in the large-SUV market right now.
As we’ve observed around town, the trip is equally comfortable outside of the city limits. While a sudden pothole will give you a jolt, the typical rutted, uneven rural roads we’re used to in Australia are no match for the Q7’s suspension system. The large wheels and low-profile tyres don’t come at the expense of bump absorption. This European SUV rides far more comfortably than some others.
Some Q7 owners we contact with claim that the vehicle can seem a touch large in populated areas. While I may not always concur with that statement, it is undeniable that once you are outside in the countryside, you immediately feel at home. The larger, angled main-street parking places, the wider lanes, and the overall sense of space on the road that you find in many small country towns are ideal for the huge Q7. Australia is fortunate in that parking is rarely a problem after you leave any of the major cities.
Negatives? Actually, there is only one, and we only learned about it after we left for our road trip since we forgot to check beforehand. Simple to accomplish when you drive as many automobiles as we do. There isn’t even a space-saving spare tire to speak of. We were reminded that there isn’t a spare tire beneath the luggage floor during our normal stop to check tire pressure after we had left the sprawl of Sydney.
It’s interesting to note that a week or so after we left, a tyre warning appeared due to a huge nail left by construction workers on the site next to CarAdvice HQ.

We mounted the wheel on a trolley jack and some wheel stands in our garage before bringing it to our friends at JAX Artarmon to have the puncture fixed. A new tire wasn’t necessary because it was in a part of the tyre that could be fixed.
If you want to take a lengthy vacation in your Q7 (or frequent lengthy excursions), I’d recommend investing in a spare and learning to live with the extra space it will take up in the luggage compartment. If you don’t have one, you might regret it. Given the size of Australia and the vast distances between its communities, it is undoubtedly something to take into account.
Overall, though, the Audi Q7 is a great choice for a family vacation vehicle. It’s comfy, roomy, and effective, and it completes the task with ease. Although not everyone can play up at the six-figure luxury SUV market, those who can will adore the Audi Q7’s adaptability. In fact, if you can only justify having one, it functions as the lone family car.
Keep checking back to CarAdvice for updates as we test it in a variety of areas over the coming months, including towing.

The RAC asserts that every year, drivers without a spare tire call it for assistance more than 80,000 times. However, according to Green Flag, the number of persons who are now stuck has increased by 20%.
Many automakers, including Audi, use a combination of space savers and repair kits instead of supplying a full-size spare as standard equipment on any vehicle. The complete Volvo line receives repair kits at the same time. BMW, on the other hand, only offers repair services for its M-model vehicles because all of its vehicles use run-flat tires.
A space saver or full-size spare is offered by several of the businesses we spoke with, but only as an expensive alternative. Prices for space savers range from 80 for a VW Touareg to 150 for one on any Volvo.
Full-size spares were excluded from the normal spec list for a variety of reasons. According to a Skoda spokeswoman: “By including a tire repair kit as standard equipment, the car’s weight is decreased, maximizing fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions. Ford clarified: “Using the tyre inflate kit is faster, cleaner, simpler, and safer than changing the wheel on the side of the road. Ford also noted that all of its new vehicles include free roadside assistance in the event that you do require assistance.
The repair kits can, however, only heal minor punctures; if the damage is more severe, a breakdown service must be called. Even if the kit works, you can only go 50 mph, and if you have to use a space saver, you can only go 50 mph as well.

Temporary sealants will temporarily remedy your issue. It can be tempting to use temporary or emergency tire sealantwhich typically comes in a containeras a fix for your flat tire if you’ve seen it before. Why do automobiles lack spare tires?
Because of regulatory pressure to get more miles per gallon of gasoline, automakers are omitting the spare tire: by removing the 4050 pounds that a tire and jack typically add to a car’s weight, fuel economy is somewhat increased. (Incidentally, because automakers don’t have to pay for those parts, this enhances their profits.)
The issue is that if a tire’s sidewall is cut or if the flat is brought on by more severe damage than a tread rupture, a sealant kit won’t be of much assistance. Think about investing in a spare-tire kit, which comes with a tire, jack, and lug wrench, if you want to be ready for any kind of flat tire. These starter kits cost about $150.
Before you take delivery, Chris Jones, a trained mechanic and tire specialist at CR, advises that you should be aware of how your automobile is outfitted.
Don’t assume the car has a spare tire if you’re going to purchase it. The showrooms are the greatest place to find out, so you may use it as a negotiating chip instead of on the side of the road after a flat.
I’m from New England and have driven anything from a Segway to an aircraft carrier. I’ve actually driven thousands of automobiles, many of them on international racetracks. At the CR Auto Test Center today, such knowledge and enthusiasm are being used to empower customers. And if that means sacrificing some tires in the name of the truth, then be it. Continue with me
