Are extra tires provided with Audis?

The Audi RS3 excels in its performance. We used a lot of valuable feedback from RS3 owners who were dissatisfied with the lack of suitable spare tire options to develop an appropriate spare tire for this small beast. The RS3’s big front brake calipers will just barely clear our 18-wheel vehicle, though. Each kit option will contain a billet aluminum wheel spacer to offer plenty of wheel clearance when putting the spare up front in order to address this problem. Regardless of the kit you select, all required lugs and hardware for attaching the wheel spacer and the spare wheel are included.

“Run-Flat Tires and “Sealer kits-

Audi vehicles now feature “run-flat type tires, like many automobiles, or tire “sealer kits in place of spare tires. Run-flat tires are to responsible for a harsh ride and poor handling, which is completely against what your RS3 was built for. More importantly, compared to non-run flat tires, they are exceedingly expensive to replace. Without air pressure, they can bring you to the repair shop as intended, but if you drive on them for a long distance, they are rarely repairable and need to be replaced.

Better Tools-

We took into account the hassles associated with standard spare tire tools and accessories while designing the best spare tire kit for your Audi. For instance, the majority of scissor jacks are challenging to use and do not offer sufficient force to quickly elevate your car. We developed a special low-profile scissor jack with a novel ratcheting handle mechanism to address this issue. This handle gives you the necessary leverage to raise and lower your car safely and easily. Our jack has been meticulously constructed to lift your automobile correctly at the precise lift positions.

We added a full-size, sturdy plastic tire bag as a precaution. It can be messy to transport a full-size flat tire and wheel. Therefore, covering the damaged tire with the huge plastic tire bag will assist safeguard the interior of your automobile.

Our Goal-

*Our spare tire and wheel are sized with the powertrain of your car in mind for the overall diameter. This crucial design element is necessary for effective use and operation. As a result, the spare tire may not fit in the spare tire storage space that already exists in your car. Please take into account our carrying case option as a practical substitute.

Do not utilize the little spare tire that likely resides inside your 2021 Audi Q7 as a substitute for having your tire repaired. It is only designed to be used for a short period of time.

How far can an Audi spare tire be driven?

Donut-shaped spare ties or space-saving spare tires A space-saving spare tire has the following restrictions: There is a 50 mph speed restriction. Ideally, no more than 70 miles should be driven.

Why are spare tires absent from modern cars?

Because of regulatory pressure to get more miles per gallon of gasoline, automakers are omitting the spare tire: by removing the 4050 pounds that a tire and jack typically add to a car’s weight, fuel economy is somewhat increased. (Incidentally, because automakers don’t have to pay for those parts, this enhances their profits.)

The issue is that if a tire’s sidewall is cut or if the flat is brought on by more severe damage than a tread rupture, a sealant kit won’t be of much assistance. Think about investing in a spare-tire kit, which comes with a tire, jack, and lug wrench, if you want to be ready for any kind of flat tire. These starter kits cost about $150.

Before you take delivery, Chris Jones, a trained mechanic and tire specialist at CR, advises that you should be aware of how your automobile is outfitted.

Don’t assume the car has a spare tire if you’re going to purchase it. The showrooms are the greatest place to find out, so you may use it as a negotiating chip instead of on the side of the road after a flat.

I’m from New England and have driven anything from a Segway to an aircraft carrier. I’ve actually driven thousands of automobiles, many of them on international racetracks. At the CR Auto Test Center today, such knowledge and enthusiasm are being used to empower customers. And if that means sacrificing some tires in the name of the truth, then be it. Continue with me

What automobiles lack spare tires?

But when I opened the trunk, I discovered a tire inflator kit rather than a spare. Towing the car out required about four or five hours of back-and-forth communication with roadside help, and it then needed to be kept overnight somewhere. It was a major hassle. You can mock my misfortune all you want, but a AAA study that was just released indicates that this is a more frequent occurrence.

28 percent of new cars for model year 2017 that were analyzed by researchers for the roadside assistance provider did not include a spare tire as standard equipment. By getting rid of the spare tire, you can lighten up your car and increase its fuel efficiency. Even though those vehicles frequently come with kits to repair small punctures temporarily, if you suffer sidewall damage, as I did, a significant puncture, or a blowout, you’re out of luck.

A space master tire is what is it?

Since 2002, Vredestein has used the current fitting machine for Space Master spare tires. Given the enormous demand from the auto industry, the company anticipates that the next milestone, which is 2,000,000 Space Master spare tires, will be reached much more rapidly.

The popularity of Vredestein’s Space Master spare tyres has increased significantly over the past several years as a result of the rise in the number of SUVs, particularly 44 models, with many manufacturers choosing the Space Master and the high level of quality and service provided by Vredestein.

The most current vehicle to be equipped with Vredestein’s Space Master is the Audi Q7. Due to the Q7’s extraordinary success and the large proportion of Space Master spare tires installed in Audi’s SUV, Vredestein must make every effort to keep up with the burgeoning demand for its products.

Many drivers have misgivings about having spare tires. Mini spares are less effective than standard tires, while full-sized spares take up a lot of room in the boot. These worries have been heard by Vredestein, who has created the Space Master. A space- and weight-saving spare tire for use in all emergencies, the Space Master can reduce volume by up to 60% and weight by up to 35% when compared to other spare tires. Due to this, Porsche, Maserati, and Mercedes-Benz used the Space Master in a number of their sports vehicles first.

The best driving and braking performance for these cars is just as crucial as space-saving measures. High-end vehicles, in particular, are equipped with low-profile tires that are difficult to store; selecting the appropriate tires is crucial for these vehicles. And more and more car types, like SUVs, are affected by this phenomenon. Audi’s decision to include the Space Master as standard equipment on the new Q7 demonstrates how a “smart” spare tire may satisfy two needs that were once thought to be incompatible: weight/space reduction and dynamic safety.

The high performance level of contemporary passenger cars necessitates that a spare tire likewise live up to the highest standards. The performance of the car should not be negatively impacted when the spare tire is needed. The precise measurements are equally crucial: thanks to cutting-edge electronic control systems with sensors customized for the wheels, the spare tire’s diameter can only vary slightly from the normal tire. Any variation larger than a few millimeters causes the car’s control systems to get false information about the turning speed of the impacted wheel. This will negatively impact driving and braking systems including ESP (electronic stability program), EBV (electronic braking power distribution), ABS (antilock braking system), and other associated systems. All of these criteria are satisfied by the Space Master.

Naturally, no driver likes to experience a flat tire. But when it does, the Space Master conducts a “pit-stop” without any issues. The Space Master is simple to fit, allowing the driver to immediately take off again. Within five minutes, the tire is inflated with the compressor’s assistance.

Currently, tires in sizes ranging from 165/80 R15 to 175/50 R19 are made and supplied to the automotive industry. It follows that sizes ranging from 175/60R15 to 295/30ZR22 can be replaced. However, Vredestein claims that it can provide every imaginable size upon request.

Has the 2019 Audi Q7 a spare tire?

The majority of the CarAdvice team can’t get enough of our 2019 Audi Q7 50TDI long-termer. Every time there is an option, hands go up, and after a weekend road trip, nobody wants to get out of it either. In that regard, it successfully checks the boxes needed of a large, family SUV.

It will also need to check off the box of an accomplished long-distance traveler. After all, many Australian families like doing that on long weekends, during school breaks, or whenever the desire strikes. Most of us who live in large cities can reach a charming country village in under two hours, depending on traffic of course.

Fortunately, the large Audi is also easy to maneuver through traffic, but this upgrade is more regional.

To test a few things, we drove the Q7 through Wagga Wagga and into Griffith in the NSW Riverina. In order, long-distance fuel consumption, coarse-chip B-road ride quality, comfort, and flexibility.

According to the numbers, the 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 in 50TDI form produces an easy 200kW and 600Nm, making it appear on paper to be a simple and effective long-distance touring SUV. Recall that the starting price of our 50TDI is $106,900 before on-road expenses.

While the Q7’s fuel economy on city streets (just under 10L/100km) had impressed us, on the open road heading south out of Sydney, the live reading almost immediately went into single digits and averaged in the mid-sevens for the whole trip. That is quite remarkable for such a big SUV. Even while it wasn’t crammed to the gills with luggage and was only two-up, it did bring back a sizable load of regional produce (wine, fruit, and local beer) to add to the touring load on the return trip.

However, for a vehicle of this size and capability, anything under 10L/100km is impressive. It also demonstrates how much superior the current diesel engine is than it has ever been, which is why we frequently advise diesel engines to customers who reside in or frequently visit rural areas. In terms of actual efficiency, there truly isn’t a comparison in the large-SUV market right now.

As we’ve observed around town, the trip is equally comfortable outside of the city limits. While a sudden pothole will give you a jolt, the typical rutted, uneven rural roads we’re used to in Australia are no match for the Q7’s suspension system. The large wheels and low-profile tyres don’t come at the expense of bump absorption. This European SUV rides far more comfortably than some others.

Some Q7 owners we contact with claim that the vehicle can seem a touch large in populated areas. While I may not always concur with that statement, it is undeniable that once you are outside in the countryside, you immediately feel at home. The larger, angled main-street parking places, the wider lanes, and the overall sense of space on the road that you find in many small country towns are ideal for the huge Q7. Australia is fortunate in that parking is rarely a problem after you leave any of the major cities.

Negatives? Actually, there is only one, and we only learned about it after we left for our road trip since we forgot to check beforehand. Simple to accomplish when you drive as many automobiles as we do. There isn’t even a space-saving spare tire to speak of. We were reminded that there isn’t a spare tire beneath the luggage floor during our normal stop to check tire pressure after we had left the sprawl of Sydney.

It’s interesting to note that a week or so after we left, a tyre warning appeared due to a huge nail left by construction workers on the site next to CarAdvice HQ.

Get a great deal today

We mounted the wheel on a trolley jack and some wheel stands in our garage before bringing it to our friends at JAX Artarmon to have the puncture fixed. A new tire wasn’t necessary because it was in a part of the tyre that could be fixed.

If you want to take a lengthy vacation in your Q7 (or frequent lengthy excursions), I’d recommend investing in a spare and learning to live with the extra space it will take up in the luggage compartment. If you don’t have one, you might regret it. Given the size of Australia and the vast distances between its communities, it is undoubtedly something to take into account.

Overall, though, the Audi Q7 is a great choice for a family vacation vehicle. It’s comfy, roomy, and effective, and it completes the task with ease. Although not everyone can play up at the six-figure luxury SUV market, those who can will adore the Audi Q7’s adaptability. In fact, if you can only justify having one, it functions as the lone family car.
